Those that use Genesis 2:21 to say that God wanted people covered up must then believe it is wrong for them to ever be seen naked by their spouse. There was nobody else around but Adam and Eve! If the purpose of the skins covering was to cover up nakedness, it would have had to be to protect their eyes from each other. That is a ridiculous notion. See Paul's teachings concerning the relationship between a man and his wife. Read the Song of Solomon. To be nude in a non-sexual environment where nudity is expected is not wrong. It definitely is wrong to be nude in a sexually-charged environment with the expectation of taking part in it.
The skins meant that blood had to be shed to cover the sin of rebellion against God, not to cover nakedness. They tried to cover their nakedness with fig leaves, but covering nakedness was not the problem; atoning for sin was the problem. I wonder who told them it was a sin to be naked? God even asked Adam that question! Check out Adam's answer. It certainly wasn't God!
Well, it looks like this Jacob is another hit and run driver!
Slam us then run.
If he is all that concerned, then he should either stay and teach us what we need to know, or not come at all. By never responding to our questions, he is sending a message to others that we are stronger.
The statement that God clothed them does not mean that He issued a decree regarding clothes. Maybe Adam and Eve so much wanted coverings that God in his graciousness made some for them. They certainly would not have had the skill to make something other than the very primitive coverings that were not really coverings at all. And they would not have had the heart to kill an animal to make skins to wear. Of course this is also symbolic of the beginnings of animal sacrifice.
Maybe there was a change in climate that necessitated clothing. We just do not know. We cannot just take a few lines of scripture in order to explain our habit of covering ourselves.
The Genesis account is consistent with what we can deduce from pre-historic living patterns. Our earlies ancestors went naked. Then as the first humans expanded to areas outside the tropics, they made animal skins to protect themselves from the climate. It was only much later that humans made use of textiles.
