Every once in a while....

....I may have to do some "editing".
This morning, I had to remove a post that was not well received by the group.

Here are some hints in posting your thoughts.
First of all, I realize some are in a hurry, and don't have much time to go back over the copy, but going over it just once makes a big difference.

Before submitting, do a read of your post from the beginning. If you get frustrated or bored or lost, chances are, others are doing the same and it doesn't get read, or is misunderstood.

Misspelling is another problem we all face. But we won't go there right now. (common on all boards)

USING ALL CAPS IS ANNOYING AS H********!@!!!!!
'nuff said on that.

Use paragraphs often. It breaks up the story line and helps us to not get lost in a long post.

I just want to say thanks for the quality of posts that have been made here, and I don't want to run off any of our loyal users on minor issues. I just wanted to remind us all that hundreds of people read these posts and we don't even know them or hear from them. The better the example we give, the better the response over time.

We already have new people come on board and join us simply because of the control we keep here and that they feel safe here. That is a compliment to your diligence to keeping a strong Christian profile and attitude.

As I mentioned at the top of the site, I don't make many rules, just read Galations 5:22 for a basic idea of conduct.

Appreciate you all,
Boyd Allen

Two more thumbs up

Boyd - I congratulate you on your integrity; also appreciated/enjoyed your postings today to Mrs. Muffin <as Christians we are supposed to do what the law requires aren't we? > Also liked your response to Scott (this is a great site for getting these kinds of things on the table as he says). I tried that turtle wax thing, but the turtle won't stand still (sorry). Sean + Shannon

this will make 6 thumbs up

I work for a large trucking company and spend about 10 hours a day on a computer so don't spend much of my spare time computing. Your biblical adherence and the quality of the advice given here keeps me checking back to see what bit of wisdom I'm missing.

No , You Were Right!

January 10 2004, 1:36 PM

Luvnaturism, I never thought I'd say this to you but "you were right" If you read the posts carefully it is to this point 10 "thumbs" and 2 "thumps" (mine were "thumps" - I have no idea what "thumps" are - maybe someone out there can help me - just a typo) Regards and {{all}} Sherri

On second thought...

January 10 2004, 1:09 PM

I think most of the points Boyd made are valid, but I may disagree slightly with others. Content is definately a major issue, and we all need to take into account that others we don't know, and who may see things out of context, may be watching. Also, little eyes are watching. Biggest thing, we are on a Christian site, so that shound explain it all. Now, I haven't seen anything that I object to as far as content, just making a point.
Now for the disagreeing part. I know that long paragraphs and such may be a little distracting sometimes, and maybe a bit hard to follow. Same with errors in spelling, diction, or punctuation. BUT, I personally enjoy the energy that posts like that show. I haven't read any post that shows a lack of intelligence or education, just ones that are examples of 'stream of consciousness' writing. That's where the person writes just as they think it. That shows us so much more of the person, their personality, that what just words sometimes fail to reveal. It shows me a person full of energy and excitement.
I watched my step-daughter come running into the room one time and start talking a mile-a-minute. She went on and on, without stopping to breathe, until she said all she wanted to say. Then came a BIG breath in. "I had to say it all before I forgot."
That's what I see with some of the posts here. I would hate to have people not say what's on their minds, or forget, because they worry about how they write.
Anyway, that's just what I think, my opinion. You know what they say about opinions, and like always, you can agree or not. I won't take it personally, honest.
God Bless y'all.

Seeing patterns

January 11 2004, 7:01 AM

I agree with your points here and I wasn't trying to cut out the energy, just giving some an idea of posting etiquite (sp?)

I have enjoyed the posts here, and sometimes I would overlook a post only for others to see more into it than I did and get worried about it.

Those posts that I deleted were very similar in writing and content and had a tendency to be "spamming" in nature.

At first, it's hard to tell, but when you begin to see a pattern, then you know you have to step in and do something. I just didn't see a pattern at first, because being out for a while, I did not see those posts.

I hope I didn't offend anyone with my suggestions, I just wanted to be helpful.

By the way, I only had to remove those four posts and about two, maybe three others in the last few years the site was up. It has been relatively clean and to the point from the beginning. Thanks to all.

Boyd
