Teen Guy -Little Sis  (no login)

My brother wrote to you a little while ago. He and my mom and I have been talking about our being nude at home and it has gone well. I am not into tatoos and body piercing. I am 13 and a Christian girl. I liked the discussion about being topless and I vote yes too. A lot of girls at school have been talking about shaving their pubes and I know I read something here about that. Thank you. Little Sis of Teen Guy

Little Sis, I hope you don't think this strange since I am your age, but what really matters is what your mother allows and what is comfortable for you. My mom just got a brazilian, my sister Shelly is trimmed down in size, my cousin Holly is a smoothie and Jen is untouched. They all have their place. But since you are still young I would say don't do anything. Jen is untouched and I really like how she looks...oh, well, just a guy in study hall at the end of a day...Scott

My thoughts

January 20 2004, 5:48 PM

Hey, Little Sis - you and I are only one year apart and I too have thought about shaving but have decided to wait awhile until I really now what I want to do right now I like the look that I have and it makes me feel kind of grown up but that's just me. I now you cant be nude outside yet but when that time comes you will enjoy seeing the sun on your bush and how good it feels. After Saturday I did e-mail Scott to see what he thought and as he wrote to you he likes the way I look but you have to now what your mother will let you do and what is best for you and not what other kids do that is really not important. Just be who you are and be the best you that you can be and then you will be happy. {{little sister}} luv, Jen

Little Sis, can you take another opinion by a big sister? I am almost 17 and like Holly am a smoothie. I really like the look and the feeling, but I have only done this recently and after talking it over with my mom. I think it is better to wait a few years and then talk it over with your mother. I know alot of girls in my school have been into this, but don't let others pressure you. you will know if and when it is right. Jen has the right idea. For me being smooth is the ultimate nude feeling, it feel clean and fresh and it is me. Hope this helps rather than confuses. Your big sister, Muffin

From a mother's point of view I can certainly agree with what the others have written. My little girl Corrine is only five, but I hope and would expect that these and many other things we will be able to talk about as she grows up. As a young mother myself I have chosen to be a smoothie, but only after I gave birth. I agree with Muffin, it has to feel right, and so I talked with my husband and he said "go for it" and I did and have remained hairless. It does feel cleaner and cooler and more comfortable. One of the main reasons I choose to do this was because I wear a bikini but maybe wearing a bikini wouldn't be the reason that much longer, but for now in public it is. Our twins love to play nude in the house, but when it comes to bed time Jared is a purist and nude it must be no matter how cold, while Corrine likes her pj's in the cold weather and varies between panties and nothing in the summer. It is a matter of personal comfort and preference. So too is this issue. From a mother's heart, MoTiNJ

I must be getting old, but I really cannot understand the current enthusiasm for shaving off body hair. I consider pubic hair to be a badge of maturity and an enhancement. Why must everybody feel the need to meddle with God’s creation? The cosmetic industry is always looking to create new markets and convince the gullible of a “need”. For many years women in Continental Europe resisted removing underarm hair, but now they have succumbed to this trend along with the culinary delights of Mc Donalds! I find that a “shaved” body reminds me of an oven-ready chicken!

I have enough to shave to worry about that!

January 21 2004, 8:37 AM

For some people, after shaving "umpteen" times to keep the hair off, find they feel like an oven ready chicken. My wife for instance. She finds it very uncomfortable to shave, causes skin burn. However, she does find it ok to keep it trimmed .

For myself, I want to keep what hair I have left. I just recently, (last summer) started to keep my hair on my head trimmed down military style. I cut it myself. Just run a number two clipper on it and "presto" a $15 hair cut in five minutes!

I keep a mustache I had since I was able to grow one. And started to use an electric shaver for my face so I won't get face burns from too many blade shaves.

But I don't dare shave or cut any further!!!!!

'This Ain'T New!'

January 21 2004, 10:07 AM

Peter,

The Patrician Women, the top ruling class, of the 'Ancient' Roman Empire were totally depiliated, except for their eyebrows and the hair on their heads. They didn't have the benefit of creams, etc. Beginning when body hair 'came in', their hair was plucked one hair at a time [ouch!!].

By repeated pluckings over a number of years, the women became completely hairless except as noted above.

Just a history fact for the B. A. N. C. Forum.

Aciently, yours,

KuzeN

Most Fowl

January 21 2004, 11:33 AM

Peter, I find your last comment most fowl!
My wife and I are in our 70's and have been "practicing" (hopefully we will get it right) naturism for 20 years. We both tried the shaved look several years ago. I couldn't stand the itching. My wife on the other hand went for a modified triangle and likes the look and the feel (so do I). As my generation used to say, "try it, you may like it". To each his own. Sean + Shannon

Sean + Shannon,
I for one liked your sense of humor. Sean you remind me of my dad. As you know I agree that each one has to find his or her own comfort level. Thanks too for the encouraging comments you sent via Dr. Sherri. I'm almost "over the hump" and feeling more confident.

Well, Peter, as said above, many people enjoy the 'clean and smooth' feeling of being shaven. That's what I like.
Too many people give smoothies grief because they are modifying God's creation: what about earrings, make-up, men shaving their faces, clipping your toenails, etc.? Nobody says too much about that. It's your choice.

Hey KuzeN: ancient egyptian women used to remove all body hair with pumice stone. ouch.

Re: Opinions

Kevin,
I don’t think that shaving, piercing has any particular relevance to naturism, but in posts it is always being forced to our attention. So often on other sites a post will start on the lines “ As a smoothie pierced (with graphic detail) I think etc. etc”: nobody starts off” As a ballroom dancing, stamp collector”!! There are specific naturist groups and web sites for smoothies, so you cannot complain that you a persecuted minority. I have always felt that one of the big advantages of naturism is the fact that you finally accept your body as it is and hope that others will do the same. Coincidentally in the British media there has been mention that some scientists have found a link between certain deodorants and breast cancer (there is almost a scare per week, so whilst I don’t take them very seriously, it is worth noting)- in today’s Daily Telegraph it is reported that a doctor at North-Western University, Illinois found that those women who shaved under their arms at least three times a week and applied deodorant at least twice a week, were 15 years younger when diagnosed with cancer than other women – just a thought!

At a series of Lenten talks given by Franciscan friars, the theme of one was “ God loves us as we are, not as we would like to be or as others would like us to be”- that is good enough for me!

Peter, I do believe that shaving and/or piercings(which I do not have) do have a relevance to naturism, in that both are matters of comfort. I choose not to wear clothes when possible, and I choose to shave or not for the same reason: comfort. I don't try to force my opinion on either subject (nudity or shaving) on others. Quite the oposite, I encourage others to think for themselves and form their own educated opinions instead of simply parroting what they have heard another say. That is why I can disagree with you without objecting to what you say. You have the same right to your opinion that I have to mine. They're just as differant as we each are.
I never claimed to be a persecuted minority, I simply stated that many people object to ONE PARTICULAR grooming habit, without objecting to any other. I find that contradictory.
You referanced God loving us as we are. He does. That includes smoothies and non-smoothies alike. He also tells us to love each other, which I think means unconditionally. I try very hard to do just that.
As a by-the-way: I saw an article on the whole deodorant/shaving/breastr cancer thing. It claimed that the reason women get breast cancer more often than men is due to them shaving their arm pits allows the deadorant to directly contact their skin instead of being blocked by hair, as it is with most men. The deadorant then blocks the sweat glands, thereby causing toxins to be held in the surrounding tissues. The only problem with this theory is that toxins aren't expelled from the body through your sweat. Oops.
God Bless

I graduated into it

January 22 2004, 7:32 AM

I graduated into shaving. First, I had to shave my beard. Let it grow because every time I changed blades, I'd cut the the tar out of my face. Electric wouldn't keep it from having 5 o'clock shadow at 11 o'clock in the morning. When I did shave, double-edged blades and better electric shavers had come of age. So, I've been clean shaven there. Tried growing it back when I retired. Gray hairs would stick straight out. Wife said I was a porcupine.

Had to start clipping the ends off the pub hairs a long while back when they started getting stuck underneath my foreskin. Wife complained I was a porcupine. Found it was easier on the sac to shave it, rather than clip and and occasionally get folds of skin stuck in the clipper. Tried shaving the edges of the rest: red bumps.

Finally, about 3 summers ago, I tried shaving the whole works down there. Got some initial red bumps, but Bikini Line cream and soaping a lot and sun shine got rid of them. Wife hasn't complained about my being picky down there.

Shave gel and triple-edged razors and pre-shaving with an electric on the "tough" areas have cured my shaving problems.

Now, why do you trim your ear and nose hairs? Why not let them entwine around your ears and nose, as God apparently intended them to do?

Ralph

I trim my nasal hair, beard and have my grey locks cut. I even cut short the odd stray pubic hair, when it becomes a nuisance. However I don’t think it is necessary to make a song and dance about it.
