I'm finally taking the plunge and heading to Gunnison this Saturday for my first nude beach experience. I'm sooooooo excited! Though I've been to many nudist events and a resort, I've been dying to hit the nude beach for a long time. Will anybody else be there this Saturday? It's supposed to be around 84 and sunny in that neck of the woods.
I hope you will manage to get a friend to go with you to help you enjoy your day at the beach wearing the most comfortable bathing suit the world has ever known.
My first nude beach was Apollo Beach in Florida. I have three regrets:
1. Like a fool I brought only 10 ounces of water for an entire day at the beach in August in Central Florida. It didn't kill me, but I was really ready for a drink of water after that.
2. I wish I could have brought a friend or tagged along with one of the local travel clubs. I had fun, but I always have a lot more fun when others come along.
3. I regret that I waited as long as I did.
Enough regrets! It was a beautiful peaceful place and being nude helped me experience the world around me in a way I never have before. Gunnison is close to several big cities so I've heard it has a more lively festive atmosphere.
Please give us a good descriptive narrative of your adventure when you return. God bless!
I have no idea where thats at, but I hope you do have a lot of fun!
I haven't been to a nude beach either, but would like to one day. (That doesn't stop me from taking my nude or nearly nude walks late at night or early in the morning on a beach!)

Melissa - sorry to say we have a family commitment, but hopefully will meet up some time. As you may have read here I recently experienced Gunnison and then Ken and I. Do be ready to walk (from the parking lot to the beach is quite a walk) - I think it wise to stop at the restrooms when you first get there. I would suggest scope out the area and "set up camp" in an area that looks comfortable to you and then as if you have done this all your life take off whatever you are wearing (the less the easier to take off) - relax and enjoy. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. You will find (as anywhere) that some people just want to be let alone and others are friendly. Let us hear about your day (Sunday and Monday look like great Gunnison days, too!) K & B
Thanks for your words of wisdom! I've been a nudist since this past October and taking my clothes off is second nature to me at this point- they'll come off quickly and unashamedly now. So there's no fear there. I'm just worried about gawkers. But, from what I understand, if anyone gets out of line there are plenty of people who are helpful!
Melissa - glad to hear that you are so comfortable slipping out of your duds (I didn't think I would be, but I surprised myself). It is still "off season" so I don't think it will be nearly as crowded as it can get and I suspect (from my observations) that those (majority) at Gunnison this time of the year are the "seasoned" rather than the "novice" (let me see what I can see) naturist. So I would suspect less gawking. You can choose to sit somewhat apart from the crowd as well. Someone suggested to sit by the gay men (there is a contingency that sit together), but that would be your call.
Looking is natural (and enjoyable), but I understand your concern about the gawkers...it is good if you can get someone to go with you who is equally comfortable. Enjoy and let us know about your experience (wish we could join you). Barbie, Mother of Twins in NJ
I went to Gunnison on Monday (first time at a nude beach). The shore was windy and overcast, but ten miles from the shore was beautiful. I still got a little bit of a tan. I was hoping to run into Ken and Barb, but didn't give much hope. Maybe this forum and the Gunnison beach people could set up a sign so we would know each other. There were two gawkers the day I was there. Both had white shirts and when they walked past, they would be uneasy if I looked them in the eyes. Of course, I can get away with this, cause I look mean and big. (I'm really friendly.) Would love to go this Saturday, but probably will not be able to go. Enjoy your time at the beach.
Sorry we didn't make it this week - it wasn't because we didn't want to - not sure which one of us wants to return the most (we both feel like little kids ---so free feeling). Glad you went and enjoyed... K & B
I really didn't expect you to be there. Also, there is a Barb and Ken in my church. (Well, really only Barb. He doesn't attend.) I know you are not the same. You have twins and there children are grown. Maybe someday we'll meet.
Yes, we have very young twins - just finishing Kindergarten - a boy and a girl; Ken and Barbie are not our real names - we just them them for this site. My nickname is "Barbie" because some have teasingly said that I looked liked "Barbie" and of course then I had to be married to Ken (although I do hear that they have broken up - we have not). Barbie
In two weeks we're heading to our first nude beach experience, but we're going south instead of north. Sorry
My wife first brought up the idea of a nude beach trip just before Christmas. We decided to go for our anniversary. We checked around a bit, looking mainly at New Jersey and Florida. We finally decided on Florida. It's farther from us, but we know a couple people down that way, and the amusement parks, and alot of beaches to choose from, and resorts to stay at, and..., and... !
And just after we started to get some kind of idea what we wanted to do in Florida, everybody here started talking about how they had been to Gunnison. That sucked, but just a little bit.
