Thanks for the Prayers

Dear BACN Forum Members,

Thanks very much for your prayers. It took anesthesia and sedation to get me through the MRI.

The sedation was needed for my nerves because I am extremely claustrophobic. The other reason for the sedation is that I have 'trigger points' where a nerve is or nerves are hypersensitive. It feels like I have red-hot knives and/or pokers at those points.

I won't know what will be needed until my orthopedist can review the results.

Again, thanks!!! Especially to Miss Jen!!

This is a wonderful place.

Bearone was right!!

June 10 2004, 8:59 PM

Hello, Miss Jen

How are you, young Lady? Bearone was certainly right: you do "run over". I love reading your posts.

He also said you reminded him of a chick breaking out of her shell. Well, you certainly have grown since then! Think back to what last fall felt like, then think what you feel like right now. Big differance?

Anyway, I just wanted to say "hey!". I haven't talked to you in a while. I was surprised when I got back to see your posts: are you back or haven't you gone yet?

And I remember where those "huggy things" are (just kiddin' Bearone), so
{{{Miss Jen}}}, and one for {{Noodles}}

Later
God Bless
Kevin P

Re: Bearone was right!!

Kevin, I didn't forget where they are, I never knew! Lest you may think me to be uneducated I should add that I did take typing in school. I worked my way up to three words per minute however The foriegn language department at our school never was able to determine just what language it was written in so I wasn't able recieve full credit for the course. My efforts a typing improved when I developed a system I refer to as the "Columbus System". Find a key and land!
On a more serious note you may be interested to know that after some time I am trying to gain permission from several Government agencies to test a new line of clothing. Natural products and energy conservation seem to be the leading edge in technology today. My new line is a solar powered clothing that allows the sun and fresh air to pass through completly unhampered. The permits are required for now because I haven't been able to find a way to dye the material I use in the manufacuring process. At this time the clothing is transparent and so light in weight it is not even perceptable to the touch. My line will be able to be produced in this country which may seem unamerican to Wal-Mart, but could become a new trend. Bearone

I think what you are looking for is body painting!

AHHHH....

June 11 2004, 11:26 AM

But the dye is for the clothing not the body! The body is covered with clothing but until we can find the right dye, alas it can not be seen and one would appear to be nude! The perfect clothing energy efficient, light weight, so light it is undetectable! The only problem with this fantastic item is the inability of conventional dyes to color it, thus the need for the government permit to wear test it until we can find a suitable dye. It does appear to darken with extended exposure to sunlight making long term testing a must. Every true american capitalist would be compelled to understand the tremendous economical benefit this would be to our national economy. Eureka!! You sir may be just the person I need to be in charge of testing this earthshaking new product! Bearone

Sounds familiar

The clothing appears to be of the same character as the one for the Emperor!

About ""Sounds familiar""

June 12 2004, 12:07 PM

Boyd,

Was wondering if anyone had caught the play on words there. Except, any little boys wondering about the 'new clothes' probably would be wearing the same attire - or lack thereof - as the Emperor.

Maybe the day will come when we can wear original equipment.

How About Some BAD News??

June 10 2004, 9:53 PM

Folks,

I got the MRI films and took them to the Orthopedist this this afternoon. He was furious!! Even though I was sedated and under anesthesia, the MRI team let me move around. That destroyed the usefulness of the film.

He has one more option, something that I had done in 2001. It hurts past unbelievable if the Radiologist hits a nerve. That Radiologist hit TWO nerves in the spinal cord. I may be forced to do that again.

So, at this point, I don't know.

Miss Jen, Yes, there will come a time when GOD puts the ONE RIGHT person with you. Yep!! Closeness will be what counts at that time. You have learned from and are learning from your Parents so that you will recognize that one person.

Sorry to hear this

June 14 2004, 7:11 AM

Kuzen,

Sorry to hear the bad news. Hope they can do the other procedure without any pain.

I've never had an MRI but can't imagine my being still long enough.

Got onto this briefly at the hotel in Blacksburg. Didn't want to spend too much time on the web. Mainly got on to get my e-mail off the Juno system, to keep it from building up too many messages by the time I got back.

Open Air MRI

June 11 2004, 6:32 AM

Has your doctor considered sending you to an "open air MRI"?
There are several in our area and I do believe that they would have to be available elsewhere in the country.

One of the reasons I believe this technology was pursued was for those that are claustrophobic. Another reason (without trying to offend anyone)is for those that would not easily fit in a traditional MRI unit, whether it is due to size or a physical handicap.

Since you are not looking forward to the other option, I'd REALLY search for one of these units nearby.

You can email me and I'll provide some points of contact in my area that you can then contact and ask for simmilar services in your area.

Not a Closed MRI

June 11 2004, 8:01 PM

Metalsmith,

Thanks for the concern. This MRI belongs to the Orthopedists who practice there. All of them are very, very good.

It is an 'open MRI' machine. I had been prescribed a medication for relaxation. I took it at the time prescribed. Since then, I've teased my Pharmacists that they dispensed the 'time released' version.

I took it a few minutes after 6 A. M. The MRI was supposed to start at 7:00 A. M. By 7:15 A. M., the medication still hadn't kicked in.

I was going to try it and hope that the medication would begin working right after I started. Major problem. This, as most Open MRI machines, is very close to the patient's face. It was about 1- 1 1/2" from my nose. Claustrophobia took over.

Today, I took the Doctor's Orders to the Hospital where the procedures will be done. One of the techs went over everything [having been the beneficiary of one in late 2001, I knew what will be coming]. The tech went over my situation with one of the Radiologists. He stated that they don't normally use relaxation and/or sedation. However, they do make exceptions.

A major portion of the problem is that I can't stay still, even with mild/moderate IV sedation. Having an anesthesiologist come do a sedation in Radiology is not an option.

Again,
Thanks,

KuzeN

Maybe, ""Some "help" offered""

Depends on how much velcro you can come up with. If I could look like an Egyptian Mummy, it might work. I couldn't figure out how I could wrap myself up that much.

Friends and Family on this Board mean everything.

clothaphobic

June 11 2004, 9:25 AM

A little late in answering here, but I hope your doctor does find a solution for you. By all means, look into the Open Air MRI as Metalsmith suggested! I never heard of it either, but it seems that doctors will do everything they absolutely know from personal experience before they even think of, let alone suggest, another option.

Maybe it's a good thing you are a nudist. Being clostraphobic(sp?) may cause one to feel closed in while wearing clothing.

Hey, another reason for naturism! Clothing causes clostrophibia! Being nude frees a clostrophobic person... Could you verify that KuzeN and NudeTeen?

Is there a word for clothaphobic people?

Boyd
