I haven't posted for a few weeks. Jane asked if she wrote something could I please post it. She typed it herself as a Word doc. and I am pasting it below:

My mom said that if I wrote something she would put it on the internet place that helped her so much.I am nine and a girl.In school we read and talked about the girl who wanted to go without her top but could not because she was ten and she was a girl.Me and some of the girls in my school think a girl shouldn’t have to wear a top if a boy does not have to wear a top.So this summer before we are ten some of us are not wearing any tops like as much as we can.So at our pool where we live and to the beach me and some friends don’t wear any tops.No one has said anything maybe there are other girls who read this and their mom would let them not wear a top I think it would be cool if lots of us girls didn’t wear our tops. Then maybe they might change the law so we can be like the boys are. Sincerely, Jane

Thank you for writing. You express yourself well for someone who's not yet ten. Most of us didn't write nearly as well as you when we were your age. I'm sure your Mom is very proud of you for many reasons, only one of which is your writing ability.

Concerning taking advantage of your time to be topfree, good for you. I'm glad that you are making the most of it. I completely agree that girls shouldn't be required to wear tops any place that boys don't need them.

So far as changing the laws, we certainly do have lots of laws about clothing that need to be changed. There are a growing number of states where women and girls don't have to wear tops now, but I guess you don't live in one of them. There are also many countries where tops aren't required. Maybe you can visit some of them when you get older.

We hope you write again, and we thank your Mom for posting this for you.

This is a way we have of sending hugs: {{Jane}}

To Jane,

I agree: very well said for a young lady of only nine. You must make your parents proud.

I also agree that girls should not have to wear tops if boys don't. Congratulations to you and your friends on being brave enough to use the freedom that you have for a bit longer. That takes guts. Alot of people wouldn't do it, even knowing they could.

To TJ's mom,

Thank you for giving Jane the opportunity to speak her mind here. She sounds like a very special young lady, from what you have said and what she wrote.

Give her this from everyone here (I'm sure they all agree )

I remember that last year 10 women in Florida sued so that would not have to wear tops. The youngest of that group was 14.

Standing up for that right takes a lot of courage!

Dear Jane,
I am so glad that you wanted to post and that you worked this out with your mom. I have three children: Maggie who is 4, Beth who is 5 and Scott who is 8. Since they were little they all loved been nude in the pool at home (this is a whole lot easier for mom, too) and at the beach. We live in Flordia so it is warm much of the time. If the kids are not nude they are top free. I know they are young, but my husband, Matt, and I hope the girls will grow up comfortable being top free like you. In fact when we go out to the store and I tell them to put a top on they say "aw mommy do we have to?". I was glad to hear that you and some of your friends are enjoying this freedom too around the pool and atthe beach. We agree that girls and women should not have to wear a top when it is okay for boys and men to be top free. We also found out that the kids have a cousin, Kristin, who is a young teenager who likes to be topfree. Whenever she babysits for us she and the kids swim nude and most of the rest of the time she is top free around our home. Jane, hang in there and always be careful and obey your mom. Thanks so much for sharing with us. "Aunt" Sue

PS - to everyone our Scott is growing so fast - he has enjoyed several days away with his aunt, uncle and cousins who are naturists -still enjoy looking at our three with their golden tans!

Good to know that you're still around.

I just want to say thank you to everyone. My mom printed out your answers to me and I keep reading them. Was this a trick to get me to read during the summer??? I like you all and say thank you. Jane
