Is everyone OK? We are just now getting the rains related to the recent storm. My parents got a lot of wind and rain, but nothing bad, they got the Tropical version.

I hope you all in Florida are OK. Especially our Spunky Lady. Seems you got it worse this time.

I am concerned for you all down there. I have noticed over the years that Jacksonville rarely gets hit by a hurricane of any kind. They usually bypass Jax or it becomes tropical by the time it gets there. Jax got an almost hit back in 79 but it wasn't bad when it hit. Never got the "eye". It actually bypassed it and went over the ocean, only to hit either SC or NC, don't remember that much of it.

I've been in some serious tropical storms, but never really been in a true full hurricane. I have been camping with a church group and had been hit by a tropical storm and tents went everywhere, except ours. We actually set up our tents (3) during the storm, and came out dry! Apparently we were the only ones who knew how to set up properly! NOT that I want to do that again!

But anyway, let us know how you all are doing.

May God bless you all,

Boyd Allen

Hurricane Jeanne

September 28 2004, 5:31 PM

Hey All:

I ended up in Tampa and wished I was in Jacksonville. I hope Hurricane Lisa stays away. My house is ok. The screen got ripped and a piece of wood weather of the base of the front door. My Hurricane insurance has a 500.00 deductible. But, its do it yourself on the estimate and I doubt it totals 500.00. But a Special needs shelter has damaged and had to evaluate in my area. Glad I did go to Tampa.

Five?

September 29 2004, 6:32 AM

Yet another huricane? If this hits that will mean 5! We really need to listen to the scientists who state that with global warming the cyclones/huricanes/typhoons will be more frequent and will be more server.
When God created the earth he also created storms to act as valves to releave preasure, by burning all the fossil fuels we are causing all these problems.

Only five

Japan has been hit 8 times so far this year. 8!

And just as a side-note, I don't buy the whole global warming thing.

Wet and Weary.

October 1 2004, 1:31 PM

Everything is good! The power is back on. Cable and phone finally fixed. Five more trees down and limbs everywhere. A firewood salesman would go crazy here. The trees that are left have very few leaves but it gives a lot of sunlight. God is good!! Bearone

Wet, weary, but okay

Bearone,

Good to hear from you, brother. I'd been thinking about you down there, and I'm glad to hear that you're okay.

We just passed our one-year anniversary of Isabel, and there are still trees laying everywhere. We only got hit once, and it was bad. I can't even imagine what it's been like for you guys.

God Bless, and Take Care
Kevin
