I read this in an email "devotional" I get each day. I thought it spoke about Christian Naturists and how we feel about the "Image of God."

"Mirrored Reflection - August 17, 2005

When you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, what do you see? Is there an image of a less-than-perfect person staring back at you? One whose eyes are a little bit nearsighted, or with teeth that are horribly crooked? Or, perhaps you have hair where you don't want it and not enough hair where you need it most. How critical are we of the image that stands before us in the mirror?

Have we forgotten that a long time ago, God created us in His image? (Genesis 1:27) We are not some science experiment gone wrong or the end result of the slime that wandered on the earth; we are precious, hand-carved treasures from our Father's hands; a priceless apple of His eye. Some of us may may be large or small treasure in size, but we are all loved the same. We are more precious than the most brilliant silver or expensive piece of gold ever seen.

Next time you look in the mirror, think about Psalm 139:13: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Next time you take a look in that mirror, the reflection looking back may not seem so bad after all! Take a good look today and appreciate the gift of life that God has given each of us every single day."

Even better: do it naked

Always look at yourself in the mirror when naked, not with clothing-enhancements. Think God likes to see us naked the way he made us, and we should appreciate ourselves that way.

Thank you for the reminder...

Thank you for reminding us that God made us just as we are...

And that every time we criticize ours or others appearance, we are criticizing Gods handiwork!

Whose handiwork are we judging when...

we look in the mirror and are dissatisfied with our paunch or flabbiness?
It certainly isn't God's handiwork that we are criticing. Rather it is our misuse of what He has given us.

Yes, we should be thankful of and in awe of what He has wrought. But we also need to recognize that we must treat these earthly temples that He gives us to move about in need to have regular upkeep so we are useful to His continued work in us and through us.

Amen

While God did make us, it's still our responsibility to maintain ourselves.

I see too many people who seem to think that "body acceptance" means we should approve of how horribly they've treated their bodies.

Stewardship means with everything, not just money.

(And, yeah, I know this means me, too. Still about 10 to 15 pounds too heavy, but I'm workin' on it. )

Later
God Bless
Kevin
