My six year old niece began asking questions about the hurricane, the people and the destruction Wednesday. By the time she went to bed she was in tears because she, "felt sorry for the kids." She talked with her folks about it and calmed down. Yesterday, as soon as she got to school, she told her teacher that she thought they should do something for the hurricane victims. The teacher was so moved by it that she told the principal. The principal proceeded in getting on the loud speaker and announcing to the school that my niece had suggested that the school do something for the victims. So on Tuesday all the kids are to bring food items, baby items, and personal hygiene items to donate here in San Antonio for the evacuees the city now has. They school is also looking into collecting toys and school supplies the entire month of September to donate to the displaced children here. I am really proud of my niece. She's learned about the true meaning of giving early on. Two Christmases ago we went to a Christmas lighting ceremony where they were collecting toys for children and I explained to her what we were doing. They've adopted "Angel Tree" children for a couple of years. And last Christmas I gave a musical toy lamb for her and the (now) two year old to Samaritan's Purse in their honor. She understood why I did it then. I thought it was pretty neat.

That is really great for her! Funny how the school didn't think of it on their own, but maybe God wanted her to the be the one to bring it to their attention so God can use her in a special way.

Samuel started young too, God spoke to him early on to do special work.
