Bravenet offers a messaging board similar to this one, too. See http://www.bravenet.com/ It still has ads, but it might not be as bad (I am not sure).

Out of curiosity, I thought I would do a search on free message boards. I am surprised to see there are quite a few out there. If you're intersted, check out http://www.freecenter.com/forums.html as it offers a list. I thought http://www.proboards.com/ looked nice.

As an aside, I have noticed I am suddenly starting to get more junk email, and I have wondered if it is because "search bots" are getting my email address of this message board.

Anyone can see the email address. Just click on your name. The way to get rid of it is to not put your email in the "Your Email" (Optional) box. Note: Optional!

Of course, if you forget to put your name in, it's "Annonymous".

Yes, I know. I prefer to include my email address in case someone may want to contact me directly -- as a few have done.

Of course, what I was referring to were the programs people write or use that harvest email addresses from web pages. The programs constantly search the web, filtering email addresses off of the web pages they find (like your message board) into databases that the owner uses to SPAM you.

Well in that case, if you got a website, then you got spam! Believe me! Yahoo has a spam sorter and my spam and junk email box fills up an average of about 50 a day or more! I just empty it about every two to four days.
