Just to let you all know- I deleted a message from "Michael" at a supposedly Christian erotica site.

While the text of the message that Michael posted stated beliefs that I would on the surface say are correct- that God created us as sexual creatures and that there is no need to deny our sexuality- the web-site that he linked to was definately not a proper Christian site. Graphic sexuality of definately non-Christain ideals were very prevelant. The first picture on site was of a woman, supposedly Christian, flashing her breasts at the camera while in an adult video store. I didn't need to see any more.

I believe that sex is important, but I also believe that it is strictly between a man, his wife, and their God. Nobody needs to display their sexuality in that way. There's no need to pretend that it dosn't exist- in fact, among Christians of strong faith may be the best place to discuss proper sexuality- but it shouldn't be put out for everybody to see.

As Christians and nudists we should never shy away from the topic of proper sexuality, but that site just had to go.

Michael, if you're out there reading this, you are certainly welcome to read or to post, but messages or links with the type of content that I saw are not what we consider to be proper here, and they will quickly be removed to keep others from being swayed by their very misguided, non-Christian aspects.

Later
God Bless
Kevin

Questions about publicly viewable sexual activity

February 18 2006, 2:47 PM

Thanks so much Kevin! Where's the Report Post Button? Wish we had one!

Fire is great in the fireplace, but let an ember pop out and land in the fur of your sleeping dog and you have suddenly got a problem.

Sex is great in the marriage. It warms up those who build that kind of fire. But it too should operate within limits.

I think most of us don't approve of real world voyerism, but in the past century, movies (and to a lesser extent books) have permitted us to be spectators to other people's sexual activity albeit in a delayed fashion (with the implicit consent of those actors in the movie).

What about sex in the entertainment media? Should Christians accept a romantic movie that depicts a certain amount of lovemaking, short of clinical footage?

What about sex instruction videos? Can a couple depict graphic sex if it is for the purpose of showing other couples about love-making techniques? If it is okay for a couple to make such a movie, is it proper for a married couple to watch such a movie if it is for the purpose of enhancing their love life?

What if you and your wife are at a secluded spot in the woods and decide that you have enough privacy to make love... If you turn out to be wrong and are discovered by someone wandering by, does that prove that sex should never be outdoors? (I am ruling out the blatant actions of exhibitionism where lovemaking is right off the trail or just over the next sand dune).

In centuries past, perhaps still in remote areas, couples share sleeping quarters with children. Most of the time, the couple can quietly make love under cover while the children are asleep, but there has always been some risk that they will witness a few moments of their parents love-making. Any thoughts on that?

I am not advocating the links provided by the deleted post; I do not condone depictions of sex divorced from the context of a loving relationship. I am just trying to clarify the issues in my mind. I would be grateful for anyone's comments.

Kevin,
Must have been put in sometime today, as I didn't see it earlier.

For those new here, Kevin is a second contact person to help out with this site, so if you have any questions and I am not available, feel free to contact Kevin.
