I spent the day, or most of it, at a music educators' conference. I was it a wonderful time of renewing a few old friendships and fostering a few new ones. I spent a great deal of time talking with the folks from FINALE, which is the music publishing program I use. I even found out that one of the clinician's sister is a Lutheran pastor in that great Norwegian state of Minnesota.
I then spent time visiting with someone from the national music camp where I've been asked to consider a position or two. It was a wonderful time of renewal of old friendships, shared memories and stories.
A friend of mine works at a music store in North Texas and I found out that she and her husband will be moving to Portland, Oregon, in the next couple of weeks to manage the store's new branch there. The three of us went to school together as undergraduates. Again, we shared stories and laughs, followed by tearful hugs.
I ran into several people I know, gave out more business cards than I can count, bought some new music and books to use for myself and my classes, and went to several very informative and helpful workshops.
It was a great day to connect and reconnect with fellow musicians and educators and must of been blessed by God!
