Sort of.

Bit busy. Finally got the internet back up again. I was posting from the library when I can get to it between the kids.

Still no job yet. Trying to get another car on the road. This one is a gas sipper. Tiny car.

Been home most of the week getting things done.

Glad to see things are running normally here.

And Happy Lent (Ash Wednesday a day late) to all!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy, you're here. I know what you mean about all the roadblocks that keep hitting us like your internet problem and the car, etc. We keep getting the same things happening. Satan knows what our worst fears are and plays that hand to its fullest. Many time I think we get hit the hardest when we're on the verge of something great or something that will lead to that great thing. If we all band together, we can be two or more gathered in His name and keep forging ahead.

Boyd,

Glad that you're back.

I had a pretty busy week, and I wasn't able to watch the board as much as I would have liked. I'm just glad the "kids" didn't make a mess...

We'll continue to pray about your job situation.

If you need any help with your new "shoebox", let me know.

Did a great job!

March 4 2006, 8:11 AM

Proud of you son!

And of course, I wasn't really worried about it here, it runs fine even if I was out for a month!

As for the "shoebox" it actually ran great yesterday (Friday). I took it out for the first run doing sales (signs to mechanic shops) and it worked great.

Small, easy to view out of, no long hood. I can make easy U-turns (legal ones of course) and quick lane changes. The gas tank was practically empty Thursday night so I put in $5 (approx. 2 1/4 gallons) and ran that on Friday, went over 80 miles before I had to put in more gas! That involved a lot of stop and go, shutdown and crank ups, turn arounds, hard shifting (manual) and generally a rough drive getting to all of these places. Not bad. Now to get the bugs out of the car, I think it would do even better.

It's a 96 Ford Aspire. Built by Kia for Ford.

And others call them things...

...Aspir-"ing" to be a car!

I drove one for a couple of days several years ago
while mine was in the shop. No power steering and
not much of anything else. I had a heck of a time
driving that thing! Of course, with a semi-bummed
left arm it doesn't help, but I'm just not that crazy about
them...or Fords.

...I'm waiting for Ford god to send lightning now...Ford trucks
are pretty popular around these here parts!

...O.K., no lightning...

Seriously, though, I'm glad you have another car Boyd. And
just think, "Mister Evil Twin" now has yet another reason to
come visit you -- to work on the car.

I know how to make it go

March 5 2006, 7:46 AM

God has been trying to teach me a lesson because the two fords I have driven has given me very little problems. I've always been a Chevy person. Had my "Found On Road Dead" talks many times. Sure, this thing is a small car and no power steering. For a good reason. Power steering requires a pump run by the engine and will bog the poor engine down, and more mechanics which there is no room for in the small frame. Which explains the even less needed air conditioning.

But for what I am doing now, its a good little car. I don't expect much and I got it.

Fortunately , I am good at keeping my cars up and making them go.

Gerbil food...

March 5 2006, 10:44 AM

Just kidding...

Myra used to own a Festiva (the predecessor to the Aspire), and now we have a Focus. Both were/are good cars.

Fortunately they're small as well, because as everybody knows Ford is actually an acronym, and means Flip it Over and Read the Directions. Hard to do with my Bronco.

Sorry to hear, both Boyd and Nancy, that Fords aren't your first choice. I still like y'all anyway...

Rattler

March 6 2006, 8:44 PM

I forgot, my new car does rattle. I had to take some clamps and clamp down the heat guard over the exaust pipe so it wouldn't rattle as the engine ran. There is still some rattling I need to look into.

My front disk brakes are also rubbing some and driving me nuts.

But other than that, it seems to be running pretty good.
