I mentioned in my post on Sunday when I got back on the forum that I came home to a family emergency. The emergency involved my aunt (The mother of my cousin who has lymphoma.). For several months now, thanks to an ill-fitting prothesis on the left leg, she has had severe back pain which put her in a wheelchair. She used crutches to get around with the prothesis and they really through her for a loop. A few weeks ago she saw a surgeon who told her she needed a complete hip replacement and they scheduled it for mid-April. Thursday evening she was getting out of the shower and into the wheelchair, when the chair slipped and she fell. It shattered her hip that was to be replaced and also caused some other problems, like a concussion. So on Friday they did emergency hip replacement surgery along with, so far, three pints of blood.

I got sick on Sunday, waking up aching all over. I went to the doctor yesterday (Monday) and got loaded up on antibiotics. It appears that I have strep throat and probably some type of viral infection that is causing the aching. This morning I went in and had blood drawn so they could do a CBC and check for certain infections.

My doctor's appointment last week went well. He was pleased with my progress and said while the mass and lesions are still there they must be status quo (i.e. same size) because I don't have any new symptoms. I've also lost more weight. YEA!!! He called me his "star patient." I see him again in June or July.

My trip last week was great! We didn't do much. Played games, watched some movies, played with the baby A LOT, did a short road trip on Thursday to meet her mom and grandmother, went to church on Wednesday evening. Our visit was good, though, and we caught up on life. It looks as if they are doing well, even though he took a drastic pay cut to become their youth minister -- like $15,000.00!! It certainly isn't a cheap town to live in because there is no competition in shopping, so they have to make weekly road trips to do their shopping and errands. But they seem pleased with the job so far, she's teaching piano lessons to about 15 students each week, and everyone in the church has taken them in. Oh, and they're expecting my second "niece or nephew" and God child in August/September. That will be fun! I was told yesterday that Hannah misses me because the two of them can't make all the "weird" sounds I can make when we're playing. I guess I'll have to make a recording!

Hope all of you are ready to head into spring, although the weather really doesn't seem to be cooperating in all parts of the country. In fact, it's supposed to be cooler here in the next week than it was in parts of January and February.

PEACE!
Nancy
