All,
Sorry about the lack of communication. We got my Mom out of the hospital late last week and it's been rather hectic. Last Friday (3/31) was the first day she was home. I taught lessons in the morning and by the time I got home she was panicky and thought perhaps she needed to go see a doctor. I got her calmed down and she called her internist instead. That seemed to work. We've all been on edge though. She didn't answer the phone on Wednesday afternoon as I was driving home and I called my sister and brother trying to track her down. It turns out she was feeling well enough to go to the grocery store. My father thought it was "uncalled for" of me to call my sister and brother, but hey, we're worried after last week and the heart surgery in January. I think we're entitled.

I've also been busy. I played my first faculty recital on Wednesday afternoon at the community college. It went very well and my "bosses" seemed pleased. I'm planning a solo lecture/recital in the fall. I've been teaching and traveling to other schools getting them ready for contest this week. I'll be at contest most of this coming week, along with two rehearsals for Easter weekend, and planning Easter dinner.

As of Friday, I was told that I made the first cut of applicants for the full-time position at the community college. It begins next fall. We are in the process of scheduling a phone interview. I'm excited about the prospect of having a tenure-track position and doing more of what I've always wanted to do. The thought of having the funds to find my own place is rather attractive too. While I think one of us needs to be rather close by to my parents, I would like to find a small house to rent-to-own, or rent in this area of town. That way I can be here in a moment's notice.

The semester ends in less than a month. If I'm not around a lot, please forgive me. I'll try to drop in when I can, or do better at communicating with Boyd and Kevin on what's happening so they can pass it on. I've got a lot on my plate right now, though, and I guess checking the forum and posting has taken a back seat. Sorry about that.

This is great news and glad your mother is doing OK. I know it must be scary at times. Yes, your entitled.

Congratulations on the next step to a full time position! God will put you where he wants you.

And don't worry about not being here all the time, but it is good to hear about your situation and your mothers well being.

This past week the board has been slow for everyone. I was getting concerned about it, but again, this happens at least twice a year anyway. Before long, we'll be back flooding the board again!

Hang in there, keep playing that horn!

And of course, Happy Easter and hope that your Palm Sunday went well and that Maundy Thursday be a special one.
