Wonderfull weekend

We went 850 kms south (about600 miles) to a place called Yeppon where there is a naturist retreat called Savanah Park. The owners are both in their 70s and run a very nice place. The size is 50 acres and much of it is still bush. There is a rough 8 flag golf course (you get your ball closest to the flag in 4 strokes rather than down a hole) amd a pool and plenty od bush tracts for walking. Also the area has plenty to see and so we did not have time to get bored. My but is loosing a little of its reflective properties as it is becoming a little more like my back in colour.

Got more brown yesterday, too.

April 21 2006, 6:21 AM

It was a very warm and sunny day here yesterday.

I was celebrating being able to bowl after not being able to because of the pain in my shoulder on Tuesday. My shoulder let me know it was there when I retired to my lounge chair around 4:30ish. Must have scrapped away some of that osteoarthritis boney points. It was letting me know.

Gotta call my shoulder doc and verify the doctor he recommended for a shoulder replacement this morning. Probably won't get it done until fall after the gardening is done. We'll see what this other doctor says. My main shoulder doctor apparently doesn't do bone work. My Dad had to have this done at age 72. I'm 8 years earlier than that.

Welcome Back

April 21 2006, 7:16 AM

Great trip report! It seems hard to get that rear end as tan as your back. Glad you had fun and I really hope you get more opportunities. Pending cost of traveling.

I don't know what gas prices are like in your world, but it's getting rediculous here. It's getting to where we are not sure if any trips are in our future! We may be taking trips Kevin style soon! I can see me driving a two seater Harley with a side car attached for family vacations.

I think the only consolation for driving smaller vehicles is that we don't need as much room for luggage if we go to a naturist resort.

petrol prices

April 21 2006, 5:48 PM

Our petrol (gass in your speak)is 126 cents a litre whish is about $3.10 a gallon. We just have to put up with it but most of our cars are smaller than your Yank Tanks as we call your cars here. I spent $160 on fuel, and $150 for the accomidation for 4 nights stay. My dual cab ute (pickup in your speak)is a 4 cylinder Toyota Hilux with 45 litre (19 gallon) tank. it was very fuel efficient as it omle used up a tank of fuel on the way home which was about 600 miles or 800 kilometres.

Toyotas

April 21 2006, 7:40 PM

I've a Toyota, too, and drove 2 or 3 Corollas around Oz. My favorite was the Daihatsu Charade because it would hold our 3 pieces of luggage and get about 45 mp(US)g; whereas, the Corolla only got around 30, about the same as my Tacoma on the highway. The Corollas with their HEMI head engines would rev to pass those 3 truck-long trains you have in Oz on 2 lane roads and doing 100 kph.

Actually, I'm hoping the gas prices climb to around $4/gallon here to really make the people think about what they're buying: station wagons are less weight than an SUV if they need that space, if they really want a big van or big SUV let them pay dearly for it because they're actually buying what I call a Hate Your Neighbor Vehicle (e.g. one that'll smash your neighbor and family if you hit them with it; you'll be looking down your noses at them from your high perch; you'll be using far more than your share of our limited petrol).

I'm really hoping the auto manufacturers will not come out with small trucks with diesel engines, more diesel engined cars and more hybrids. I'l be needing to replace my 23 year old diesel and my Tacoma some day soon and would love to have a stick shift diesel to replace them with and NOT one of those monster trucks, which are the only ones with a diesel now.

On ClothesFree.com, you'll find some debate (mainly from the Europeans) about whether it's immoral to drive a vehicle that uses too much fuel and to heat their homes too hot. Don't think many from the US piped in on that!

A little get around

April 22 2006, 1:08 PM

Right now, we are driving a 4 cylinder '97 Ford Aspire. Gets about 35mpg average. Not bad. Got a 5 speed transmission, 2 door with hatchback. Gets around really good. If it weren't for that, we would be practically stranded.

Re: Wonderfull weekend

Hey, I know what you mean. I rode my bike down to San Onofre's c/o beach Thursday and got me a little glow going as well. Not too much or that bicycle seat would have been really uncomfortable (LOL). So, it was a doubly productive day...so to speak. Nekkid time on my weekend and 45 miles of riding time in.
