I've Returned

Yes, I've returned from my conference more learned and actually a little more relaxed. Last Thursday evening I spent several hours with a group of arts educators from the San Antonio area as well as higher-ups in the arts from around the state, watching the NBA Finals, and sitting in the atrium bar at a hotel. That was a great evening! I really enjoyed the conference also and I am excited about some of the ideas it has given me and the information I can pass on to others.

My golf lessons are going well. I had my second one on Monday. I'm shooting straight and about 110 yards with a 5 iron. I'm practicing on a daily basis -- yes, like my horn -- and I'm getting addicted. The "golfer's tan" is rather pronounced, but I can't have everything, eh? I'm enjoying the time playing, though.

The summer position I have (supposed to have? waiting for? will have? might have?) is about to drive me to paint faces on all the golf balls and, well, drive them quite far! My start date is now supposed to be this coming Monday afternoon, BUT on Tuesday I find out that the HR department is to contact me about a physical. (UH??????) There's apparently something about lifting 20 lbs. I'm balking about that as soon as I hear from the HR department because, quite frankly, the college doesn't need to know medications, or anything else. I already work for the blessed college district!!!!! I'm finding that the woman who is "in charge" doesn't return calls, emails, and is rather flakey. Perhaps I really don't want this, although the money would be nice.

The next few days will be spent celebrating my day of birth, which is officially Saturday. Not a lot planned, but I'll do lunch with my mother, see the family over the weekend, etc.

Blessings to all of you!
Nancy

Happy early birthday.

Nancy,

Happy early birthday to you!

I'm back to lifting things with my right hand and can lift it without the aid of my left one now. Doing physical therapy yet.

My primary orthopedist told me that I needed shoulder replacement when the right shoulder developed pain starting with 3 episodes shortly after a "feels like dislocation, but not" on April 8. The surgeon he sent me to said it was adhesive capsulitis (partly frozen shoulder).

Am bowling with left hand now and starting to get somewhat coordinated. At least I don't throw one in left gutter and then next one in right gutter like I seemed to be doing for a while. Have gotten as high as 138 and averaged around 110 last Tuesday. We won 2 games and total pins that day.

Glad your back Nancy!

Conferences like that are always fun! Especially when you get around a bunch of energetic people you can learn from. Whats really cool is when you say something "insightful", they nod their heads as if they actually learned something from you (if nothing else, about you!)

I'm working for a couple of weeks. Setting up PC's for installation in Winston Salem. Seems all my work has me going to Winston Salem. I keep hoping they will find something within a mile from here for change. I could walk to work!

Happy early birthday, and I hope there is a way you can celebrate it very soon in your birthday suit at a resort and work on those "golfer" tans. They are a lot like farmers tans.

There are a few (very few) naturist resorts that do have golf courts you can play in, naturally!

If I ran a naturist resort, I would put in at least a miniature golf course. I had thought about puting in a miniature golf course that ran along a trail system around the property. You have to walk a hiking trail for a while to get to the next hole. Like real golf, only along a nature trail.

Those physicals are for illegal drugs and such, they are standard. Even if you have been working part time or under contract and they decide to pull you in full time, drug testing and a physical is standard.

The school is NOT interested in what medications you take, it's not for that. All they want to know is are you taking illegal drugs. And if you are "clean", then they will get a report that you are clean. They will NOT get a report of what medications you take. So don't worry about that.

Just like when a doctor does a test on you, they want to know what is in your system so the docs can read the tests properly (are you taking vitamins, aspirin, etc). Then you do a urine test, they read it and in five minutes, they know you are "clean" of illegal drugs.

Every time I get a decent job that lasts more than a month, I get a drug test. Even when every time I went to get one, I came out clean, the next one wants a test.

If you can carry a golf bag, then you can lift 20 pounds.

Don't worry about it. Standard, we all go through it.

Relax some more, have fun, find a naturist resort and practice a few swings.

Conference

Nancy, was this the conference about which you spoke earlier when you said you would be stopping at a naturist resort either before or after the event?

Re: Conference

That would be the one; it just didn't work out.
I had to be in town until late evening on Wednesday
of last week because of a band camp and then
needed to get back after the conference on Friday
evening to play a rehearsal on Saturday and a concert
on Sunday. Soon, though, very soon, I've got to
get to a resort again. I really enjoy Riverside Ranch,
so I hope to get there in the next few weeks as life
calms down a little.

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for sharing your doings. It sounds like you are as busy as I am...and likely the rest of us. I am glad you had a chance to drop in here and contibute. While I try to keep up with this board, I don't usually the chance to contribute much these days. Anyway, welcome back, and happy birthday! May the Lord bless you on this special day and every day.
