Could I make a suggestion?

It seems that lately we've begun to slip on some of our posts.

I find some of them very difficult to read sometimes because of gross mispellings, left out words or phrases, or abrupt changes in subject or line of thought. Some posts are also being duplicated, often hours apart. I know of one person who has medical problems that make typing difficult, and that's fine, but that's just one person among many.

It may sound picky, but it only takes a moment before you hit "post it" to go back over a post and make sure that it is written well enough that it is readable- either in spelling, context, or content. I know that I usually have to make numerous corrections before I post, and even then I don't always get everything, but I try.

Myra says I'm too much of a perfectionist sometimes, but to me it's just polite to make my posts as understandable as I can.

That's it.

Later
God Bless
Kevin

I'm the same way. If it's too difficult to read I just ignore it. In my opinion, people who can't write legibly shouldn't bother to write what no one can read.

I agree

I agree. I have let things slip here a little, but I have been very focused on other things lately, and I appologize.

I do go over my writings several times, even use the "Preview" button and "Edit" button a couple of times before posting. Especially if I got pictures, links, etc, that can be written incorrectly.

Test the links you put in (and please, if you do tell us about a site you want us to look at, put in the links), test any pictures, make sure your name is in teh "Your Name" block and the message title is in the "Message Title" block. Email is optional.

Now I can understand the situation when we are on "live" like the chat room and things move way too quickly for someone to edit, so quick notes, shortcuts, and misspellings are all part of a fast chat room. But a forum is different. We are intellegent people (So we like to think) and feel we can do better.

Thanks for your understanding.

Boyd

Spel Chek

September 16 2006, 4:31 PM

Boyd,

When I think of it, I cut & paste my posts into a new MS Word document (or its OpenOffice counterpart.

I have trouble seeing the words on the screen, so I don't see many of mistakes unless I do this.

By the way, I caught three misspelled words in your most recent post!

It doesn't catch everything. Notice that I failed to close a quote a few lines up? Spell check did not mention it.

I wish I had "Logic Check", that program that evaluates one's post for wit, intelligence and concise language. (It may not be on store shelves yet).

I may never catch all my mistakes!

..so I don't see many of mistakes...

Make that, "many of my mistakes..."

I may never catch all my mistakes, even with the help of spell check!

Not that anyone is trying

I am not that concerned about a couple of misspelled words. It's when you got to get out a dictionary from the 1620's to understand what is being said is when I start to worry.
