Somewhere else today I asked about the diet .. I am serious.. Is it or it is not what we eat that harms or helps us.. please explain.. lets get some feedback on this one
My fingers are getting tired.. many wonderful things we are talking about.. we would never discuss face to face in our areas..
Boyd, thank you again.. the forum concept is great......
The only place I can think of right off the top of my head is Daniel- where he wants to eat only fruit and veggies instead of the very rich "court" food the king wanted him and the others to eat. Daniel made a bet, and after a time, he was in better health than those who ate the other food.
But... Paul also apparently ate meat; fishermen catch fish for people to eat; and Timothy was told (by Paul again) to drink wine.
I don't think it's so much what you eat, but how much of it, and how often. Everything in moderation... And exercise dosn't hurt, either.
I think Daniel did that to resist the temptation of the riches, because he knew if he went for that, he would compromise on other things as well. But in the long run, he and his friends were healthier for it.
Boyd Allen "May the Lord protect our nudity from the sight of those who will not benefit, and may he allow us to be seen by those who will."
as I have greatly improved my health I CAN tell you that what we eat does help or hinder us...Leviticus 11 gives some details..there is also something known as the Daniel diet from the Bible..God has given us guideline if we will just investigate. I am not an expert..for me the things that have helped most are 1st vegetables 2nd fruits then nuts and seeds, etc. I am in no way saying you cant eat anything else..this is just my 2 cents worth
My health improved since I quit eating all the high fat foods I could find. I also ahd to cut salt almost completely out of my diet due to high blood pressure.
I think the key word is moderation. You can eat almost anything as long as you don't eat too much of anything.
You can exercise too much, have too much sex, go naked too much, etc.
Another thing that Daniel refrained from was wine. He more or less followed Nazarite vows, as did John the Baptist. Jesus didn't he said himself that he drank and ate maybe to a glutton state (at least others thought so; he said).
They're even saying now that some sunshine on the body is good, up to the point where the skin starts turning red. Then put sunscreen on. Just read the article on it last night in Readers' Digest.
We3 age our skin with too much sun exposure.. For precautions of health for naturists one must take precautions when temperatures become lower and the weather becomes colder.. ond on the other side when the sun too hot that we must do also.
If I understand what's written in God's word correctly, He doesn't say not to drink any wine (other alcoholic drinks aren't mentioned), but not to be "drunken with wine". If someone offers me a drink, I will generally accept as long as it's not beer. That's one drink that I've never been able to tolerate. However, I don't generally buy alcohol myself. It seems like a waste of money buying something I can live without when there are so many things I want that I can't have.
Two things caused me to give up drinking as I used to do: (1) Reading that braincells are destroyed with each drink and NEVER replenished. (I can't spare any as it is). (2) While working at the VA Medical Center (I retired from there), we had a patient who was no more than a walking zombie after burning out his brain with alcohol. Of course, I have no idea WHAT he drank, but it scared me anyway.
I agree with the concept...but for other reasons as well

Whyt spend resources on that which does not produce a goiod....
The same reason for smoking.. again why fill up your lungs with smoke... crazy...
I have a funeral in an hour and my dsay is time shifted up an hour...
I have just gotten up and in my waking hours thanked God for my naturist lifestyle and its peaceful and comfortable aspects.. why wear clothes to cover when you are in bed... ditto when you are comfortable.. it is like doing away with a blessing for a curse..
wish the world were like this.. maybe there would be less conflicts.....
The Nazarite vow (not to be confused with the people of Nazarine) was a vow that was common in that culture. An example of a man who took it was a Judge before Kings were introduced to Isreal. His name was Samuel. He was the one who had extreme stregnth given by God and slew a thousand men with a jaw of an ass.
their vows include not drinking any wine and not for wines sake, but because it came from a fruit of the vine, grapes. They cannot eat grapes or raisins and of course wine.
And they cannot cut the hair on their head. so their hair gets very long (for as long as the vow is made). some give lifetime vows (as in the case of Samuel) and others have given shorter vows, similar to fasting.
Many people have made the mistake of thinking that Jesus did not drink wine and had long hair for this reason. Why? Because he was a nazarine. But a nazarine as a people have not taken a nazarite vow. So the excuse that Jesus did not drink wine or that he had long hair is invalid.
Daniel did not take a nazarite vow. Nor did his friends. they just didn't want to "polute" themselves with what they felt was an afront to their beliefs and put their trust in God.
Yeah, back when I had a loooong braid (past waist-length) and people tried to give me grief over it, I just reminded them of Sampson, who had 7, count 'em, 7 braids.
There were two mentioned in Scripture: Samson, as others have mentioned, and John the Baptist. Samuel the prophet seems to have functioned as a lifelong Nazarite, but I can find no record of any vows. There may well have been more.
I wonder what such people did at Passover, with its ritual wine cups?
Paul seems to have vowed a temporary Nazarite vow, for at one point in the book of Acts he had his hair cut "to fulfil a vow." (Sorry; can't spare the time to find the reference now.)
It is true what we eat that harms or helps our bodies. To what extent depends on who you talk to, who they learned from, and how they make their money. So if I was a conventional M.D., I would what you to get sick at least every once in a while so you could come into my office and pay me money just so you can see me. Since most M.D.'s don't get paid unless somebody is in their office with a health complaint, what motivation do they have to make sure you don't ever get sick enough to come see them. That's the tactic of the allopathic doctors (mainstream medical care) to read a satire that shows what goes on take a look at this http://www.newstarget.com/008674.html
Here in America these doctors will reluctantly tell you to follow the USDA's Food Guide Pyramid http://www.mypyramid.gov Although this pyramid is better than what we had, it's far from perfect. Notice that the guide is produced by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) The USDA is in charge of regulating and helping farmers, this is applied most specifically in the dairy and meat industries. Their jobs are dependent on those farmers, so these farmers must succeed for the USDA to remain profitable. Obvious conflict of interest!!
However there is an alternative to this mess we're in. Natropath doctors are there to educate their patients how to prevent sickness and disease to begin with. Although natropaths do like to see patients over and over again, it's for the purpose of education how to keep out of the M.D.'s office and his prescriptions. Natropaths rely on nature, God's design of plants, herbs, and foods to keep us from getting sick or to reverse damage already done by us abusing ourselves until this point. One such nutritionist has made up his own food guide pyramid, he states that he has no connection to any food industry whatsoever so it is not tainted by money to make it say what profits a certain industry. After I looked at it I would have to agree. http://www.honestfoodguide.org Unlike the USDA's version his doesn't tell you how much of what to eat, and neither did God in the Bible. This individual has sat down for an interveiw discussing the difference between his guide and the USDA's version as well as written some articles about it. the links to these can be found on this page http://www.newstarget.com/Food_Guide_Pyramid.html
So you know, I am an entry level nutrionist trained in the allopathic way of thinking. However starting this next spring I will start my continuing education in the areas of Holistic Nutrition and Natropathy. When completed in about 4 years I will be at the B.S. level in Holistic Nutrition and Doctor of Natropathy.
....but your right, it is spelled naturopath inspite of the fact that my redneck accents sounds ore like natropath. I just didn't check to make sure that I was spelling the word right since rednecks don't pronounce every letter in most words. I just spelled dat wrd how usins tnd da tal roun heer.
