God's Naturists documentary

I know that the documentary has only aired in the UK, but at the YNAI (Young Naturist Association International) message boards there are a good number of UK members and many of them watched the documentary. I'm sad to break the news, but many of those who have seen the documentary haven't liked it much. If you want to read their comments click the link below, however I would ask that you not register and reply since the YNAI board is for younger naturists. (Not that you guys are old geezers - everybody is young at heart!)

FYI, YNAI's topics are organized a little differently - the oldest message is last (bottom of the last page) and the newer messages progress further up the page until they flow over to the next(most recent) page of messages. Here's the link to the God's Naturists topic:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

October 21 2006, 10:11 AM

Since we have not had a chance to see it, I will wait, but it appears that anyone who is an athiest, or just wants to ignore God, then they don't like it, unless they are poking fun of Christianity.

But if they are Christians, then they may like it or not like it, depending on their attitudes towards naturism or how well it was put together.

I was concerned that Bill Martin seems to be The Focus, since there are other resorts who try to be Christian. It's hard to do here.

The idea that we are exclusively Christian is not true. The board members are, but the guests will not. We want all people to come just like any other resort. And we are not planning on pushing religion down anyones throat. But we will allow Christian activities there.

I'm not fully sure just how we plan to do everything, but one thing is for sure, we do plan to be a public outreach to serve the community.

Two of the ladies on our board are planning on working with women who have body image issues. We are talking about women who tend to be extreme with their views to the point of their health are in danger and their families and friends are very concerned. We want to open our doors to the psychologists as part of their treatment options.

Since the city of Belton is a popular professional tennis location, we want to set up our tennis courts where it's not only for naturist use, but to arrange it where it can be converted for the professional curcuit and be a part of the Belton Tennis community. We told them the first day we talked to them (last August) and they were excited about it!

We want to "adopt a highway". There is much we can do to serve the community, whether social, or religious.

I'm sure at least a few of us will want to join a local club, fire department, habitat for humanity, many options that will show we are servants and willing to build up, not take away.

Now there are a lot of people who hate...I mean hate...Bill Martin to where they will follow him and destroy everything he does! And they are trying to destroy this now! We are trying our best to let these people know that WE are not Bill Martin! He is NOT a member of this board and they are hurting more than just Bill Martin!

I have no idea what he did to them or they percieved he did to them. I just know they are now stepping on MY toes, my wifes toes and others who have absolutely NO IDEA what is going on down there!

Yes, Bill is supporting it, but that doesnt' mean he is in control! Even then, there is no reason why people in Florida has to go to South Carolina to beat down what he is doing there!

I'm not sure at all how the documentary was skewed, I just hope it did more good than harm!

But that was a chance we had to take and we knew that it would get reviews that were good, bad and ugly!

Re: God's Naturists documentary

I'm also very disappoimted since I found out that I will NOT be sent a copy of the program as I was originally told I would. Apparently the word of TV people means nothing. When I asked the interviewer if I would be getting a copy, I was assured that I would. I wrote to one of the people who was here and told her what I thought of that. Since I allowed them to interview and film me without expecting payment, the least they could do is send me a copy. I won't be participating in any more such interviews since they lied to me. I wasn't planning on making any copies since I was told I couldn't.

Does Bill have them?

I heard that Bill got all the copies and that he was to send them to us.

We'll find out.

He said he had copies (he didn't say how many) but said that I would not be getting a copy. I assume that means that no one who participated (other than Bill) will get one. From what he said, they didn't keep their word on any of their promises, and he didn't consider it to be a documentary on naturism. Of course, I don't suppose I will ever know since I won't be getting the copy they promised me.

Seems to me that Bill doesn't have the right to make that kind of judgment on the documentary no matter how dissatisfied he is with it. If people involved with it want to see it, he should let them. Now, I don't necessarily expect to get a copy myself, since I had nothing to do with its making; but certainly you should, Jon-Marc.

Anyone related can see it

Boy you fellows are quick to jump to conclusions without going to your brother first. I've written a dozen times, I have two PAL copies which can't be shown on American DVD's. I 'm suppose to get 8 copies but I must have assurance in writing to protect the copyright.

Rumors

November 26 2006, 12:04 AM

I have told ou on the phone and in writing that I received a total of two copies in PAL format - not NTSC format. I'm trying to get the copies promised but we still have to have written agreeents before they can be distributed to protect copyrights.

Does copyright priviledge include editing?

November 26 2006, 6:43 AM

Are the videos you show or distribute going to be edited, Bill? Do you have that right under the copyright law, from England or the US? Maybe the Christian Naturists here don't want to see exotic dancers!

British video

November 10 2006, 8:52 PM

I have ha numerous telephone conversations with London re copies. They cut Natura's supply down from 8 to 2 and none work on American DVD's. I spoke to them again today and they are trying to get me an answer Monday. There is a major copyright problem as Channel 4 insists that there be no copies made. Actually right now I am tring to negotiate to put a portion up on the Naturist Chrisians website.

They did tell me that individuals who didn't have a very major play would not be receiving a copy. Even Randy who was a very major player did not receive a copy but I sent him one of mine.

I am going to try to arrange to loan it to persons we trust for local showings but there will have to be a signed agreement not to copy and to limit the showing to certain approved persons. We will not violate the copyright.

Worth a second look

October 30 2006, 1:58 PM

Hello all,

I was sent a copy of this DVD by a British naturist, and would like to congratulate the production team on a good, strong solid documentary. It has given me a good insight into how the American Christian scene works, as well as the nudist scene.

Most of the film is about the life and times of Bill Martin, and it opens up with a scene of him yelling at a guy on a motorcycle for 'trespassing' on the proposed naturist property.

I'm sorry to hear that you guys fell out with Bill Martin, as you seemed to get on with him like a house on fire in the documentary.

Over here in Brisbane, I have a pastor friend who has gone one step ahead and acquired property where he has held nudist fellowship meetings. He has had some communication with Bill in the past, and I intend to show him the documentary as he has faced similar hostility from Australian Christians about his desire to set up a naturist Christian network.

So far, we have had an Easter mass last year at a nudist club which attracted 18 people but subsequent meetings did not attract many people. We want to know why, since other Christian groups seem to have no trouble getting others involved.

I would be very careful about publicizing that you have a copy of the documentary as I have been warned that Channel 4 takes their copyrights very seriously. I'm still negotiating with them for the copies they promised us.

Nudist Pastor

November 26 2006, 8:34 AM

Does that nudist pastor doesn't to around suing everyone or trying to deny access to their property? I hope not. If not, more power to him and those that follow him. Enjoy!

Just because a person claims to be religious does not mean that they act in a Christian manner.

Sorry for the incorrect English

November 27 2006, 9:17 PM

I incorrectly posted a sentence, but the gist of it was I hope your Christian Naturist Pastor is not the kind to sue and harrass people.
