Last Saturday, eve and I attended our first nude Thanksgiving. It was with a non-landed club of about 30 people (they have over 70 in all). It was so cool. We got to the house and was shown a room upstairs to undress in. We came down stairs, had a glass of wine and met everyone. We were the first to arrive! Everyone was really nice and we even met a guy from Germany. There was a lot of food (good luck trying to hide your belly). At least there was no belt to have to unbuckle. After dinner and much conversation people slowly started to trickle out. We were among some of the last to leave. I was dissapointed when it was time to put on the heavy clothes and go out into the cold. Oh well, there's always Christmas!
Wow, fantastic. We belong to the Glen Eden Sun Club, but have never been invited to anyone's home for a nude gathering or dinner. I LOVE having a meal nude. Plus, the fellowship and conversation must have been great, too. We are in Southern California and family is in Missouri and Illinois, so holidays, birthdays, etc. are always a quiet, intimate gathering of usually just us three. Back in Illinois we used to invite people with no family over so they'd have a place to go other than sitting home alone like I had to when I was single. It was very nice, though. Went to work for a few hours in the morning, then we had our large Thanksgiving meal a while after I got home. No one had to work the rest of the day and we all ate together. A rarity. No driving, so no problem having wine and champaign, either. Christmas is coming up and I hope we get through that alright.
My wife's sister and her second hubby (first died 20 years ago of a stroke) like in the Eureka (6 Flags) area near St. Louis. In fact, my wife grew up near St. Louis in University City. Don't know if that's anywhere near you. Its been many, many years since we've been back to see her family because of, naturally, $$$. Hopefully, we can cure that. Her sister, however, does have the funds to fly out and visit, but has a preconceived idea about what California people are like (they're all nuts) and won't come out. Can't understand that WE live out here and we're from there. But, she won't let it go and I guess if it was important enough, she'd make the effort. Hope its not too late when she does decide.
I would hope to someday be able to make side trips to visit folks when we get public speaking and publishing running well enough that we have to travel. Dinners in the nude with friends would be a great evening.
Hahahaha, I'm sure it would just confirm the theory that we're all living a crazy, bohemian lifestyle here. When I was in high school a good friend lived next door and went to the local Catholic school, so we didn't go to the same high school. He had four brothers. One moved to California and lived near Malibu. He found his wife rolling aorund in bed once with two other guys and divorced her. Of course my parents thought that it was the California influence that ruined them. They dressed different, acted different and had a whole different air aobut them. So, yes, we're a crazy bunch out here. Us still married after 26 years doesn't seem to be a part of the equation (LOL).
Speaking of bad influences...besides the ones in Cal-a-for-nee, when wifey and I were dating I found out several years later that her sister had told her that I would use her (for sex) and then just break up with her and move on (I was the bad influence). We've been married 26 years and dated 2 1/2 years before that, so you do the math. I keep joking that her sister is probably still thinking that I'll dump my wife and move on (LOL). All I know now is that because of certain spiritual and mental issues, she has become my santuary from my problems. I find great relief simply coming home.
I think many people get very comfortable where they are and they don't want to venture out past their comfort zone even if its just for a vacation. The best man from my wedding has been with his company for a long time and has lots of vacation time. He and his wife go from coast to coast throughout the year. Mostly, however, its to visit his parents or her brother. That's their comfort zone. I have absolutely nothing to back up my theory, but sometimes I get the feeling that folks from the midwest tend to be more conservative when it comes to being adventurous. My sister-in-law has a dreary attitude, so she may simply enjoy doing local things with her hubby. Wild and crazy times don't seem to be a part of her lifestyle. My theory may be washed up because I'm from Illinois and my wife is from St. Louis and I never would have dreamed of packing up, giving up everything and moving to California because of a promise from God.
Is only about 115 miles from me, all interstate. This past Saturday I was up in STL for a nudist potluck, had a wonderfull time. There is a new resort under construction about 40 miles from Eureka that is going to open in the spring. It's called Carribean Breezes Resort(I'm not trying to give any hints though...lol)
Thats an interesting name for a locked in state that is no where near or related to the Carribeans!
I proposed using "springs" in a resort name, but was told there were no springs in the area. Actually, the pond was spring fed. But because everone wanted the perfect name that made sense to everyone on all levels, they ended up with no name at all!
Now that's something to be thankful for. I was naked almost all day long. We had dinner with the whole family at my parents' place around 4pm and of course, I wasn't nude then. I doubt they'd have appreciated that. LOL Although my brother did tease about it.
I could have spent Thanksgiving nude here at the resort, where they had about 70 for a Thanksgiving potluck. However, I was invited to the home of a couple at church, and there were 19 of us including the pastor and his wife. I doubt that they would have wanted me to be nude. When the man of the house mentioned about using the hot tub, I was tempted to ask if he used it nude but didn't. They had a very nice swimming pool and hot tub. Must be nice to have money. Of course, living in a nudist resort is great too.
