He admitted himself in at the VA in Columbia, Mo a couple of days ago. They have him where they can help him now (If he'll accept it) He still needs much prayer.
The fact that he admitted himself shows that he will most likely accept the help he needs. But then sometimes people "join up" with the help group for a show then do nothing when they get there.
But apparently, from what you wrote already, he was out trying to clean up himself by getting away from his "friends" and bad enfluence long enough to come to this point on his own.
I have been the only person trusted by several people who withdrew from the world for long periods. One thing for sure is that we must be open to let them just un-load..
It is interesting to note that at home nudism was an integral part their life style -- at least getting down to a better living lifestyle...
Professional help in theory seems in order -- but it is like the 12 step program.. one has to admit they need help. But please check into the religious background of counselor... very relative..
My advise is to find a full gospel counselor... there are unique spiritual gifts that can help tremendously.. A good example is healing of memories which I havec seen very effective results of healing..
