Prayer request about a job change

My wife is switching her shift at the hospital. We talked about me switching to the same shift at her location (the hospital has 3 campuses and we are at differnt ones). I spoke with an old supervisor and he has a day time position open that would allow me to carpool with my wife and work day shift. I would also get to see my grandchildren in the evenings. I rarely see them now as I work 3P to 11P. My weekends off are the weekends they spend with their dad.

I lose shift differential but I calculated and I actually come out financially ahead by the switch. Now I just need my current supervisor to let me go.

Took care of it for you. Also, besides financially coming out ahead, you come out spiritually and psycologically ahead by being with your wife more in the carpool (fuel resource savings) and at home. I keep telling my wife that she's my sanctuary after work where I can be totally at ease after coming home from a very spritually empty environment.

That sounds like a great move! May take a while to get used to it, but you'll get a greater opportunity in the long run.

May God grant your prayers,

Not at this time

March 16 2007, 5:53 PM

Found out yesterday that I will not be able to switch to the other hospital campus or switch shift at this time. There is a threshold for absences and I am one above the threshold at this time. So I have to stay until it the longest one is a year old (assuming there are no others) which is the end of May.

I am trusting that the Lord has some reason for this and that He will show me what His purpose is in this.

To say I am disappointed would be fair.

Be careful of what you pray for. Six years ago I prayed that we would develop the kind of faith that the old time saints had. Since then we have really been living day to day. Isn't that exactly what Jesus said we should pray for when He taught the disciples to pray (give us this day our daily bread). I know He has been faithful even in the most dire times and He will continue to be so.

Our Daily Bread...literally

Sorry about that metalsmith. But Jesus did tell us to pray, "Our daily bread" for a reason.
