Welcome to Easter Sunday!

Look! He has risen! Go and tell the others!

I found out something interesting about the cross. We see many paintings and depictions of Jesus on a cross. True, that is something we need to focus on. But we have to be reminded that there are three crosses there.

Is there a reason we should pay attention to the other two? When you look at the differences of writing from one gospel to another, you will find that they all give slightly different accounts.

Examples: One may say two men appeared at the tomb, one will say angels. One may say a man or an angel.

One says after sunrise, another just before sunrise.

But when it comes to the cross, all four gospels say three crosses.

What is so important about that? Jesus was in the middle of the two crosses, why?

Earlier in one of the gospels, the disciples asked "Lord, can we sit one on your right side and the other on your left side?" They did not know what they were asking, but someone (other than the disciples) did get that opportunity. However, one represented those who accepted Christ and the other represented those who did not. One was the sheep, the other the goat. Jesus stood between life and death, and when he died, they all died with him, when he suffered, all suffered with him. And he suffered and died with them.

When Jesus died, all of creation died with him, so now, when he rose again, all of creation rose with him, a new creation.

Behold, I make all things new!

We are no longer under the curse of Adam. We are no longer of Adams blood. We are under "The Blood" of Jesus. Like Adam, when his side was cut, a bride was created, blood and water ran out, (instead of a rib) and the Bride of Christ, the Church was created! We were recreated into something new and better! What is there to be ashamed of?

We are post resurrection. Lets live like we are under Christ, not under Adam!

Re: Easter Sunday

The contata that the choir sang this morning was titled "Behold the Lamb!" At one point in that contata I nearly lost it and had a hard time continuing singing. The words that got to me were "Like a rose trampled on the ground". I thought of Jesus and the suffering He endured for sinful creatures like me. He was beaten beyond recognition, and it's beyond my comprehension why He would do that. Such unconditional love is also beyond my comprehension.

Yet through it all He said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." My sins helped to nail Him on that cross. The Roman soldiers held the nails and hammers, but it was I who nailed Him there. All of us are guilty, and all He was guilty of was love. Oh what love! What wondrous love that undeserving sinners can have joy, peace, happiness, forgiveness, and eternal life simply for the asking! "I serve a risen Saviour!" Glory to God!

Nuptial

April 9 2007, 7:17 AM

Boyd, I like your analysis.

There is a lot of nuptial symbolism as well. Christ died for His Bride, the Church. Reread Ephesians 5 with the Crucifixion fresh in your mind.

He is the New Adam, the Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world. His mercy is without measure.

Because He has paid the price for our redemption, we can again be "naked without shame".
