Now that I see over on the right side that there's a time stamp of the last post for each subject I don't have to guess what was posted last and scroll through the entire page to keep up. Plus, all the responses are together on one page which also makes it easier to read, so I'll give it the wave of approval.
The way it is set up (and I have limited ways to do so), the main topic on the front page is at the top, from most recent.
Then the replies are put in the order they come in, which is replying to the post just above it.
I noticed other forums are set up this way, including CNVillage. Their main topics are in order of most recent at top, then the subsequent responses go down the page and on to the next page.
The trouble is instead of just clicking on the new posts from the home page, a person has to click on the thread and then try to figure out just where in the thread the new post is. If someone is responding to what someone says in the middle of the thread (as I'm doing here) it is put right under the post being replied to. Other forums place all the new posts at the bottom of the tread so at least they are all in one place and easy to find. The way this is set up now, it has become a scavenger hunt to find the new posts. I have an idea which thread a new post is in, but I don't have anyway of telling where in the tread that I will find the new post, unless I look at the date stamp of every post within the thread.
It's starting to grow on me. I am one of those that liked it before because it was different and very easy to tell which messages where new and I only had to click on the new messages instead of searching for new posts within a stip like other forums (and now this one) But I guess I can get used to it if everybody wants this forum to be just like everyone else. I'll just have to remember when I visited last to figure out which posts within a thread that I haven't read yet.
