I was at a car wash a few days ago and got into a conversation about nudity with someone there. He was inspecting car windows as the cars came out of the car wash and found a number of dings in my windshield I hadn't noticed. Only being used to Michigan insurance where I had to pay most of the cost of window replacement, I didn't know it wouldn't cost me anything in Florida to have it replaced.
As we discussed the windshield being replaced, he said that I could either come to their shop, or they would come to where I live. I asked, "Will you come to a nudist resort?" He assured me that they would, and we got into a discussion on whether or not God accepts nudity. He said that God told us to be dressed. He said he wasn't a Christian and had simply looked into a lot of religions and had come to that conclusion.
I then proceeded to explain the real meaning of scripture that speaks of nudity and told him that it is not God but people who have a problem with nudity, and that they had misinterpreted scripture and taken it out of context for a false conclusion in determining that God is against nudity except between husband and wife. He was very open to what I said, and I believe that I had him rethinking his conclusions on nudity.
We do need to be open enough to be truthful about our way of thinking. Even if it did sound like a joke (would you come to a nudist resort).
I guess my next question would be, did he get another rethink on Christianity? If he concluded (and believed the conclusion) that we should be clothed by the Churches he looked into, he may have other issues that needs to be resolved as well. Obviously, he is letting the Church dictate his beliefs, even if they are wrong. So he is open to the Truth.
The holy spirit works this way, and pray that we are attentive enough to pick up on it.
