“Growing up, I was asked repeatedly, ‘If you were to die tonight, where would you spend eternity?’ I was never asked, ‘If you live tomorrow, what kind of life will it be?’” ~Philip Gulley

I don't know if I had read that somewhere before, or if it was proded in my spirit by the Holy Ghost some years ago, but I have often reflected on the last part of that quote for some time. So much so that I frequnetly pray (as in almost every time that I pray in my prayer closet) that people will see Jesus in me before they even recognize the body in which I reside. Now, because of this post I've gotten to thinking about it in more detail. Lord I ask you to live through me, that my body will always head to your direction and never again hear my sinful flesh.
This may get me into trouble but here goes anyway.
If you were to die tonight, where would you spend eternity?
This is one of the disenchantments I am currently having with the "Salvation Industry". The marketing campaign is driven out of fear and selfishness not love.
First off, while Jesus did talk about heaven some, it seems that much more of the scripture about Christ is about living life. While some would argue that this pitch is only used to "get someone through the door". Many times, it never seems to go much further than that.

Agreed, although the objective is our home in eternity, it's what we are doing in this life that REALLY matters in the eternal scheme of things.
"If you were to die tonight, where would you spend eternity?" I here this guestion often and I believe it is good to stimulate thought in someone we have a relationship with. Unfortunaltely, I often here it used by Bible Slingers more interested in a notch in their book than truly making a difference in someones life. These guys will quick witness anywhere, anytime seeking the glory of the harvest without thought of discipleship. Those they touch believe that they have fire insurance. They have taken Christ as Savoir with no understanding of Lordship.
"If you live tomorrow, what kind of life will it be?" When this statement is paired with the first it goes a long way toward daily steps in discipleship and a complete understanding of our relationship with Christ.
