The Wild Goose

I posted this in a different forum but thought it would make an interesting question here as well.

I was listening to a recent message from National Community Church in Washington DC called "Cage of Responsibility".

In the introduction he tells the listeners that the ancient Celtic christians called the Holy Spirit the Wild Goose. This was because they found the Holy Spirit something you could not control or cage up.

He asked an interesting question.

Do churches do to Christians what aoos do to animals. Do they cage Christians up, not allowing them to reach their full potential?

Absolutely!!!!!!

Remember my story about the bear? He was caged up for so long he didn't know he was a bear and was afraid to go outside of his perceived parameters!

I think they got the "spirit" of the holy spirit right on! At least they manage to catch one of the tail feathers of the spirit when it went flying by!

bornnude: I think you might be interested in reading this blog about free Christians. (BTW, he mentions "science" often within this writing, but he is NOT a Christian Scientist.)

I read through all his prior posts as well. Lots of good ideas there.

BTW, thanks for sharing that with us! Sorry it took you so long! Yes, that IS a GREAT question to pose here. After all, are we not about freedom? Reformation of how we think about God and the holy spirit? Who we are in Christ? That being naturists is only one thing in a series of ideas we need to clear up in our view of who and what we are in the Trinity?

This subject IS something we need to discuss here.

Thank you!

OOPS....

Do churches do to Christians what aoos do to animals. Do they cage Christians up, not allowing them to reach their full potential?

should be

Do churches do to Christians what zoos do to animals. Do they cage Christians up, not allowing them to reach their full potential?

Maybe Boyd can fix it to ease confusion.

The Wild Goose is Watching

Everyone knows that aoos is an alternative to zoos! Don't worry about it. Besides, if anyone wants to know what a aoos is, they need to listen to the audio!

Which, btw, is interesting in the fact that our Wed night bible study group at our pastors house is about our dreams and the dreams God gives us to live out faithfully! I passed this link on to my pastor. I hope he listens to it. Because he is right on target for what we are discussing!

I love that line, "and signs shall follow, not lead". This is what Jesus meant when he said that those who seek after a sign (look for signs first and follow the sign) will be cursed...or something like that. So we need to stop looking for signs and start following the Heart God gave us.

In fact, it makes me feel ashamed for putting on my pants when I think a neighbor might be watching...which I think one is.

Should I go on naked and be as I see myself in my visions? Or should I quickly cover up for the "sake of modesty" and "weak in faith"?

An interesting question, Boyd! Sometimes I wonder if we are hiding too much for our message to get out. As much as we talk about it--and even talking can be dangerous in some circumstances--it's unlikely that mere talk will change anyone's mind until they see what we're talking about. Do I guess correctly that most of us who have embraced social nudity still had some doubts until our first experiences? Then how can we expect anyone else to understand fully without some more direct confirmation?

Yet the ground must be prepared; we must seize those good moments. "No, it's okay! I don't mind, you didn't interrupt anything, I'm not being 'intimate' with my wife, just naked and comfortable..." Then perhaps they'll see what we're trying to say.

Thanks for taking that to the next level.

"He who hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches."

And to us individually.
