Always sorry we don't have the $$$ to fly over and join all of you. Hope you all achieve the goals you're looking for. We have several camping dates set ourselves for the summer and wifey is looking to be inpired by the serenity of being nude for 10 days so we can move forward in our business.

Yes, we are sorry as well. We came close to having a California CNC but we decided to hold off another year. We need the leadership there that is familiar with CNC and able to work with us for a while.

Ten days? Sometimes someone comes on here and rubs it in once in a while! wink.gif

I am glad she has that opportunity.

Hey, maybe my wife and I can do a CNC out there, but we need the funds to get out there (hint hint)

Let me tell ya. The only rubbing I'm going to do is sunscreen on myself. Because of funds camping is the only vacation we can afford. I'm selling items on Craigslist to get cash for extras at home...like food. O.K., not that bad yet, but the little bit of extra money pays for the camping. Plus, its stuff I've decided to clean out of the garage anyway and I finally had to admit that I'm not going to do anything with...ever! However, the good news is we're doing it together and that's all that counts for me. Even if we only walk down to the post office, as long as we're doing it together that's what matters to me.

A CNC would be interesting here. Glen Eden has the rustic chapel and a large grassy park area for meetings. The only hang ups always involve the bureaucracy of the club. Get a commitee together and you're just asking for trouble.

I know it's been tough for a lot of people. I think families are learning to do simple things again together.

"Get a committee together and you're just asking for trouble."
Sounds like a church to me! wink.gif That is one advice our church was given after we made changes to our theology. "Do not form committees, you'll never get anywhere!"

Have an agenda and stick to it

June 10 2009, 8:24 AM

Boyd,

At the risk of being the contrary one, what alternative to committees are there?
I didn't think so!

Not that I am pleased with the way churches conduct business sometimes.
It seems to me that a lot depends on who is on the committee.

I used to serve on a committee at my church and I noticed that we always finished our business an hour later when a certain committee member decided to show up that night. On the nights that he did not show, we got just as much done, but left for home an hour earlier.

Maybe the head of our committee should have taken charge a little better and stopped all wandering off-topic talk and repetitious talk. Ideally no person should be able to get things so badly side tracked. Have an agenda and stick to it! Be strict!!! Some things can wait until the next meeting. Some things don't merit discussion at all.

Hahahaha, yes, its EXACTLY like a church. Or any other group that wants to pretend they're a democracy. When I was in college I volunteered to be a dorm floor rep. At meeting there was ALWAYS one guy (out of 16) who would argue and be contrary to EVRYTHING! You could never resolve any question or issue cause he would have to debate it. I resolved never to be on committees again.

I guess you need them in churches to take care of the everyday business. The biggest problem always seems to be head pastors who try to micromanage everything. Unfortunately, even churches that have a ruling board are filled with "yes men" who want to agree with everything the leader says just to be close to the people of importance.

LOL...I seem to have digressed away from the original topic. Getting back to Glen Eden...they are run by a corporation and a ruling board. If you wanted to hold a CNC there the permission would have to go through them. With boards and committees you never know which way the wind blows.

Does Olive Dell have adequate meeting space?
I know someone out there, good Christian guy who might be able to look into the prospects of a California CNC.

And if there's any way that you can get Pastor Jeff Bowman involved, you would have a rock solid message. His day job keeps him busy, but maybe just maybe...

I've never been to Olive Dell, but from what few photos I've seen its a much more rustic place. It looks like they have a meeting hall, but is it adequate? I guess it would depend on how many folks you would expect to attend.

There's also DeAnza Springs down near San Diego. From what I understand their property backs up against federal land and you can hike for miles nude all out in the open. Plus, they appear to be more developed.

California Contacts

June 11 2009, 12:38 PM

My contact I do have out there is VicJane (see profile and group in truenudists.com) and we almost had an event out there this year with them being our event leader.

I think they reside at DeAnza Springs and have a group that is growing out there. We originally planned to have it at Glen Eden, but we have not yet negotiated with them.

We'll see what we can do for next year. We are still hoping.

Our events this month maybe our "three times the charm" (2007-08-09) we need to expand across the country. CNC will also be incorporated (LLC) by July of this year.

One person from California did sign up to come to the event at Avalon (and signed up as a CNC/AANR member) so we will have someone out there who may spread the good word, if all goes well.

The event at Avalon will expose us to the north east (New England states) and north central part of the country (Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, etc) so we may see some expansion that way as well.

California is too big to ignore, it's got a strong Christian naturist presence. It's just that CNC has so far been so "East Coast" that it was hard to get it going anywhere else. I am not saying that it should have proceeded any other way. Better to do one thing well than go boldly off in all directions at once.
But CNC is spreading west and local participants are rising to the task in a way we east coast folks could never do.
