'We Don't Know Where Bin Laden Is' Wednesday July 5, 02:41 PM

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's trail has gone cold and nobody hunting him knows where he is, according to Pakistan's Prime Minister. Shaukat Aziz said reports that the terror chief is hiding along the rugged border between his country and Afghanistan are purely speculative. Mt Aziz told journalists: "Nobody has any idea where this gentleman is, because if they did, they would use all their resources to go after the individual and try to capture him."

The comments came a day after US intelligence
officials confirmed the CIA has disbanded a unit assigned to co-ordinating the hunt for bin Laden.

Despite a £14m reward being offered for his capture and reports of ill health, bin Laden has successfully evaded capture since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Mr Aziz insisted it was wrong to assume he was in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as is commonly stated.

"There is speculation as to where he is, but certainly nobody has a clue," he said at a press briefing in Geneva, where he had been attending United Nations' meetings.

Two new messages purporting to be from bin Laden have been posted on the internet in the past week praising Abu Musab al Zarqawi, who was killed by Coalition forces last month, and calling for more fighting in Iraq and the establishment of an Islamic state in Somalia.
