| "One false move, and I'll kill you so quickly, tou won't even have time to ask sodding Muhammad for forgiveness."
This line from a new action thriller. How likely is this line to offend moslems, moderate or otherwise do you think?
Thankyou in advance |

Welcome to the forum Proofreader. If they hear or read about it, the loonie mullah morons will probably start screaming. My opinion is sod them!
Their religion and denial of Jesus as the Christ is an affront to Christians and yet they are allowed to practice it openly and freely. They must learn to livein peace and show some respect for OUR religion and institutions.
If they don't like it, there is plenty of sand in Saudi where they can pitch a tent. |

I have to say.
I agree with your sentiments entirely.
My feelings are, if the radical ones of the 'Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, whatever could think in a more light heartened way about their religion, and understand it is not such an insult to Allah or any other God like figure for that matter the world would be a safer and more tolerant place to live in.
Anyone can pray, and take or get what they need from their prays, without having to take life in their vengeance. |

The problem is that many within Religious sects see Violence and forced compliance with their views as the way to spread their relious beliefs.
In todays world Religions are easily spread as many are willing to participate in various forms without having to resort to violence, but history has shown us that violence is an accepted method.
The Romans against the Jews, the Romans against the Christians, the Romans against the Pagans, the Romans using Christianity to go against the Muslims, now the Muslims using violence to get a better acceptance of their religion and we can find many other uses of violence to spread a belief.
Muslim violence to spread better understanding is working as if we look at just the US and Europe we will see more dialogue with Muslims, more acceptance of Muslim rights to prayer in schools and work places, more talk of understanding the Koran and we see a large number of the populace turning towards Islam.
To the statement made above:
If the Muslim is engaged in combat against a non believer he is seen as to be a hero so he needs no forgiveness from Mohamad as he is dealing in the greatest sacrafice for his religion,so it should not be seen as offensive, but any remarks to,about or containing the use of Mohamads name is justification for outrage. |

nice one Acorn, no doubt when the thriller is released, the fanatical loons will be burning an effigy of the director/producer or script writer - whilst demanding an apology or death to the infidel ..oh dear!

Err, who gives a fuck? Every religion is fucked with in modern media and entertainment.
Watch South Park ffs.
Muslims are the only ones whose skin is so fucking thin that they want to hurt you for offending a religion that they are sabotaging.
Hey Jack, thought you were Hindu?
While I'm here, check out my new Khukuri.
I'd swear the same Kami made this one as the one you sent.
I had to make a new sheath for it cause it wasn't the traditional kind and without the wood, I don't trust buffalo hide. |

City of London to mark Ramadan - FT
LONDON (Reuters) - The City of London plans for the first time to hold a ceremony on Friday to mark the holy month of Ramadan in a bid to reach out to the Muslim community, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.
The event is due to take place in the Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London, the newspaper said, without citing sources.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims across the world fast between sunrise and sunset.

Proof reader,
Not an expert on Islam I'm afraid, but as far I can see the only people that line will offend are the usual rent-a-quote types. On a 'technical' point I think a moslem would ask Allah for forgiveness rather than Mohammed.
W6- sorry mate, I'm a confirmed Atheist and have never been a Hindu (except perhaps in a previous life .. or is that Buddhist?)
Nice kukhri by the way. I hope you still give the old Chattapore one an airing (and oiling) every so often. They are my personal favourite and truth be told it stung a bit to let that one go. Out of interest I had a view of Sea Dyak's mandau headhunter's sword at the Gurkha museum last month. Although the scabbard and handle were beautifully crafted, the actual blade was pretty inelegant and workmanlike. Slab of steel really. I guess you always expect decaptitations to be graced with the flair of a blade like a Samurai sword.
Here's a better example I found on the web:

I've found two good Khukuri sources online Jack and went to some forums to see what the general feel is for them.
Well, the India and Pakistan ones are absolute garbage.
This one is owned by ex Ghurka Officer.
http://www.thekhukurihouse.com/
They ship straight from Nepal.Mine cost me $34 for the knife and $34 for the shipping.
These get real high reviews, a family imports them.

Of course, if you need a knife, just let me know.

W6,
Mate I visited the Kukhri House whilst I was in Nepal and they do the pukka genuine article. The prices are overly inflated by Nepali standards, but par the course for foreign export and you are guaranteed a quality article. The No.2 Dress (equivalent to US Army Class A uniform)Kukhri that I bought from the British Gurkha Camp's PRI shop cost about £10 (approx USD$20), but that was Brit Army rates and you'll not see that price on the market.
I've seen the other link before and am familiar with its products, all of which are good quality. Being, as you are, in to the whole blade design side of things, I can see why some of their products would appeal to you. They are bit 'technical' for my liking. I've always approached kukhris from a part practical (as a layman, they're a good general duty knife for yard work) and part sentimental (due to my work with the Gurkhas) stand point.
Agree fully on the Indo-Pak axis of crapness. In truth there are plenty of gaudy cheap-'n-nasty kukhris on offer on every street corner of Kathmandu's Thamel district also.
Regards
Jack
p.s. No, I don't need any more knives. Thanks for the offer though! |

Love the true kukri blade design, it's a geometry thing. We had talked of this and you said as much. I got to play with a Cold Steel Kukri and while it was real sharp and could cut as well, it didn't split the same cause of the flat grind on the blade, as opposed to the convex, hollow, and ribbed setup of a traditional kukri.
I was happy when I found a traditional blade with a westernized handle.
I've got a few knives.

Thanks ferret, I like Randalls.
Not being a soldier anymore, all I need is a good pocket knife and a big bush knife. The mid-size combat knives in the picture are mostly retired.
The Kukri Jack sent me is a perfect bush knife, however, the brass tip on the sheath is so sharp that it stabbed me in the calf when I was climbing up a steep slope. Not bad, just enough that I wanted to modify the sheath.
I love the knife so much as it is that I decided to not modify anything and leave it alone and just switch primary bush blades.
Last 6 months or so, my total blade loadout was this.
Now, the Bolo is out, new Khuk is in.
