Prescott calls Saddam execution 'deplorable' Tuesday January 2, 10:06 AM

The Deputy Prime Minister has said the manner of Saddam Hussein's execution was "deplorable". (Pic: Reuters)

John Prescott said leaked footage of Saddam's death was "totally unacceptable" and those responsible should be condemned.

He said: "I think the manner was quite deplorable really. I don't think one can endorse in any way that, whatever your views about capital punishment."

Mr Prescott continued: "Frankly, to get the kind of recorded messages coming out is totally unacceptable and I think whoever is involved and responsible for it should be ashamed of themselves."

Footage of the former Iraqi dictator's last moments - shot on a mobile phone - showed him exchanging taunts and insults with witnesses at his execution.

Tony Blair has been criticised by Labour MPs for refusing to make an official statement about the execution.

Glenda Jackson MP branded the Prime Minister's lack of public reaction "amazing" while Peter Kilfoyle MP said it was "yet another error in a long catalogue" on Iraq.

Mr Blair has previously underlined Britain's opposition to the death penalty but stressed it was for the Iraqis to decide the fate of their former president.

And I'm sure "those responsible" could really give a rat's behind about the platitudes and pronouncements of J. Prescott Esq, Deputy Prime Minister; sometime croquet-player (when the fat lummox was supposed to be running the country in Blair's absence); Chief Left-jabber-in-Residence to Egg-throwing Mullet-monsters to Her Majesty the Queen; Mangler-in-Chief of the English Language (see his broken syntax above); had all his ministries taken off him after his, ahem, 'away match' with his secretary - so not fit to run a Ministry of State...but 'fit' to be Deputy PM and to run the country when Blair's away??!? FFS...I can't be the only one to see the bitter irony of that?!

The sooner this 'professionally working class' oik (well balanced chap, John is - a chip on both shoulders about any one who didn't work with their hands "like what I did..." blah, blah, blah) is put out to grass, the better for all of us. And the problem isn't that he's working class (I'm working class FFS) - it's that he's built a cottage industry on being so fuckin 'grass roots' it becomes difficult to stiffle the yawns listening to his gaffe-laiden diatribes nowadays.

It's a national scandal that the was even considered for the role of Deputy PM.

.....and...breath.....
