| Edward,Duke of Wessex has been sent to represent HM The Queen in the Falkland Islands 25 year commemoration. Why send someone who is not respected by members of H< Forces?
Prince Andrew would have been the best choice, having taken part in the war. The Duke of Rothesay (Prince of Wales to non-Scots) having been in the Rn would have been good. The Proncess Royal, the hardest working royal (almost ignored by the media to favour Diana who did much less) would have been good, but Edward? Were there no ladies-in-waiting free? |

The powers that be are just building up his profile so that he can have millions of pounds to secure his lifestyle.
Just about everything he has tried to achieve jobwise has been a failure.
It happens in most families but unlike the prince is not a burden on the nation. |

I know I have said it before but the mental credibility of the decision makers in HM government takes some believing.
If the decision to send this clown as the governments representative wasn’t so ludicrous it would be a fucking insult. A “man” who gave up on the RM Commando training citing it as “to difficult”
Yep! Brilliant Choice.

"Edward? Were there no ladies-in-waiting free?"
LOL!
That was a pretty dumb move to send the bloke who famously jacked during his Military training as a representative of the Queen. Prince Andrew was at the Falklands memorial in Pangbourne for the service there with the Queen and PM. They even had a Harrier fly past.
I wonder what they did in Buenos Aries? I've heard that the Argentine veterans got a particularly raw deal and pretty much carried the can for their nations defeat. I remember reading an article several years ago from one Malvinas veteran who said they were better treated and respected by British Veterans groups, who organised exchanges and visits, than their own society.

Jack, you raise an interesting point. The thread's title could well apply to Argentinian veterans too. Many Argies put up a brave fight and received no credit for it. Some media reports would have one thinking that they turned tail as soon as a round was fired. They were not as good as our guys but were better equipped and some fought bravely. The belittling of their effort reflects on the amazing feat of arms of ours guys. | |
