What does one believe when we get conflicting messages like these below?

U.S. Is 'Flashing Red' Light at Israel, Sen. Reed Says:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/07/us-is-flashing.html

Israeli defense officials have told local media they are concerned that Israel is being used as a pawn by rival factions in the White House:

When all is said and done, an attack on Iran would be an act od war with Iran as theaggrieved party and Israel as the belligerent (in breach of the articles of the UN). To attack Iran would entail flying over Jordan or Syria and possibly Saudia Arabia. Each could construe this as a causus belli. If the USA is involved (as it was before) then US warships are fair game. Since RN ships are working with the USN in the Gulf then staying out of the fight becomes difficult. Since it would be a war zone Iran would have the right to declare an exclusion zone and oil prices will shoot up again.

Iran cannot win against the USA and they know it but they have warned that all means of striking back, including attacks in our homeland will be used. The fallout of susch a strike will continue for years or even decades.

IMO there are too many loonies in Israel and the USA wanting an attack and they should be controlled.

The current word is that Israel will make (unless attacked first) pre-emptive strikes on Iran's nuke sites BEFORE Obama becomes president, so sometime before Christmas.

For two reasons:

1. They really can't wait longer than 12 months more now before Iran has a viable/plausible nuke weapon.

2. They prefer to do it on Bush's watch so that they at least have a president who might give over-watch and either tacit or overt support for such a move.

The Iranians have already threatened US bases in the Gulf and some of their petro and naval assets in the Straits of Hormuz in retaliation if they are attacked.

Like I said, life just got interesting again...

Yeah Tommy, It is interesting. It could of course trigger n new cold war. Who in 1913 would have cosidered the consequences of one assasination?

There appears to be little basis on the claim that Iran is close to building a nuke. However we should be grateful that the claim isn't that they will have one in 45 minutes!

As for Bush, I too believe that that idiotic ratbag would be happy to sign off on a war, especially if a Democratic administration were to take over.

Gawd help us!

Since the US helps bankroll the IDF any attack would only go ahead with the knowledge that the US would be forgiving. If an attack was to go ahead I believe we should immediately pull all troops out of Iraq (no matter the consequences) and our navy out of the Persian Gulf.
We should be telling our "friends" that now.
