That reminds me of Cookies. I'll ususally come forward to Lila after mom has okayed it, but Cookies just sleeps and sleeps. Lila has to yank her out. Also Cookies doesn't like shoulder rides as much. I enjoy them (even though they are a little scary) and mom is too unsteady for them (she gets to be in the safety of Lila's hands). But Cookies always climbs down from Lila's shoulder, or at least tries to because she even does it when Lila is walking around.
Lila says it's just Cookies' nature. Cookies loves to exlpore and she can never sit still unless she's sleeping. What Lila does is starts Cookies in a safe place like between her legs or under her shirt. Then Cookies leaves, explores for a long time, and eventually she might come back to Lila.
