A vet COULD do something. There are many vets out there that are very good with small animals--even some that are great with rats. I also have a 2 year old rat, who was recently ill, and found a great vet in my area to help. Some vets even have payment options to fit your budget, such as longer time to pay bills etc. I would search on the web for "small animal vets" or even vets that handle "exotics". If that doesn't help, call your local vet and ask if they know of a small animal vet, or a vet that handles exotics. If they say they don't know of one, don't give up! Call another vet and ask again. If all else fails, respond to me and I will most likely be able to find you one in your area. DON'T DELAY! Broken bones and other such injuries that are not cared for in a sterile, professional, environment can often lead to gangrene, staff infections, salmonella, and long, painful deaths for animals!!!
