Our rat had a tumor removed from her back leg two weeks ago. We are scheduled to go back to the vet in the morning to have the stiches removed. Our little rat girl has decided to remove the stiches herself last night. There was some bleeding but none this morning. Should we be concerned about infection? Also, she has been having a hard time breathing. She looks as if she is gasping for air at times. This will last about a minute or so and then she resumes her normal rat girl life. We love our rat very much but she is over three years of age and has had a happy healthy life up until this point. What could be causing this breathing problem? Our vet has not said much about it.
