One little rat - should I have two? Or lots more now!!
by
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your response it was very helpful. It seems that the decision has been taken out of my hands. My little girl Coco was already pregnant when I bought her and a visit to the vets today confirmed she is due to have babies in about 2-7 days. I was very cross with the pet shop as it turns out they don't separate the babies (regardless of age). When I bought Coco, they had the tank out the back of the shop for cleaning so the girl just went and got the last girl - I didn't realise she still had several brothers in her tank too! Anyway I would have still had her of course. Now we are preparing for babes and she is looking rather fat. My plan is to keep one or two of the baby girls as pals for her so she won't be on her own. I am not sure where you live Sarah, I presume you are in the States? I live in Perth Western Australia, and don't know any other rattie people, but I am asking around already to find homes for the babies when they are old enough to leave their Mum. Anyone out there in Perth reading this site looking for a baby rat soon please leave a message on this site and I will get in contact with you.
