I think what Trixi is tring to say is-how come I am so small? I am the size of a green been. Most other ratties are much bigger than me. I am going to dwell on that issue now.

You know Trix, every rat is different. Like me, I have a terrible tilt. In fact sometimes my babies try to alpha me and Lila has to intervene and show them who is boss! I love how she calls it divine intervention.
You should be glad you are a slim rat. I'm large and in charge, but it's hard haulin this hunk of rat around!
Can you belive that guy? What did he call himself?.....oh yeah, 'NONE'. I was talkin to Lila about him and we figured he must have had mean parents if he's ashamed of his own name. Or heck....maybe he never had a name! It's very sad.
Oh well. Nutters will be nutters. Mmmmm, I like nuts. I think i'll go have one right now!

Sam- I believe rita and michelle are from Canada. They also have the c degrees up there. Just think of me as grandma. My kid would have had to be 18 if he had a 16 yr. old, so you just make it.
But no one calls me grandma. I'm not ready for that, age wise.
i have a 14.1hh chestnut cob called brandy. she's 20 and i've had her for 6 years. she still acts like a 4 year old though! if you want to c some pics let me have your e-mail addy and i'll send you some. do you have a horse or have lessons?
yes we three (jan, maddie, and i) are all american. but the time zone is for western america. jan lives in arizona, so her time is right (i think). maddie lives in...i think ohio, and i live in michigan, so the time is wrong by a couple hours. you live in england, so this time is way wrong for you. try figuring out the time diff if you want.
that's cool your sixteen. maddie and i are younger, and jan is older. she's the adoptive grandma of us all because her son hasn't had kid yet.
the uk is a cool plac. i originate from ireland and a mix of the uk.

Except for Tex, we have all been girls here, who obviously did not like rats. So I figured Sam was a she. but, I wanted to ask the same question. I'm glad it was you not me.

I'm watching animal planet's newest show called the future is wild.
they predict that in the future, while the earth will become too dangerous for humans to live on, rats will evolve into something called a shagrat. the shagrat is an animal the size of a sheep that walks steadily on four legs with a flat short tail and thick shaggy fur!

Welcome Sam! My name is Lila and I have a ragdoll cat named Desiree, a golden retriever dog named Lucy, and three Berkshire rats named Rosabella (a coffee colored female who had ten babies in april; I kept two of them), Cookies (a cream colored female who is very outgoing), and Sweet Pea (a blackish brownish female who is very shy and jumpy). Of course Cookies and Sweet Pea are the two babies of Rosabella that I kept.
I live in Michigan where there are way too many thunderstorms and I am thirteen years old.
What about you? I'd like to hear some more.
Up north was great. My face is sunburned but it's already becoming a tan. I got to see my family, and I just got back today (though we planned it for last saturday). We were just having too much fun!
The rats say hi to all their buddies. This is so cute! Rosabella tackled Cookies and Cookies is recieving a forced cleaning which she seems to be enjoying.

Funny, I just got back from California, and one thing we did get to do is go to Disneyland on the 4th. they had great fireworks, of course. But the very first Theme park we had to hit was Pirates of the Caribean!!!!That was sooo cool. It looks like it will be a good movie. Let me know. Johnny Depp is the hottest to me.

Welcome!! I have a champane and white doe named Trixi. She is quite high strung. I am so glad you found thid website,it was getting really lonley around here. We also talk about our other pets. I have a dog,two cats and a guinea pig. The creator of this website does not come in here anymore so we just fill these pages with our own ideas. Do you have any other pets?

hi all i have just found this forum and was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about themselves and their ratties. i'm sam from yorkshire and i have three rats two does and one buck. i have a husky called blossom, a siamese called sassy and a champagne called shamps.
I'm Jan, from Tucson, Arizona, where it is hovering in the 107 degree area. OUr mountains are on fire and no rain in sight.
WHat is a Champagne?
My ratty is Casper, whats yurs named? He's a biege male. a little sweet heart and is now 1year and 8 months old. thats like 60 years old in human age. We figure every 10 days is a year for them. Actually, if they lived thier whole 3 yrs, I would probably cut that down to 15 days to a year. But, so far I have never had a rat live that long. I had one that was 2 1/2 once. I think anyone who claims their rat lived to be 5 or 6 has to be counting wrong.
Where is Yorkshire?
I have 2 cats, one Madison and Catty. both females. Madison only likes me. she's a moody one.
also 2 betta fish. One Betty and Marilyn. Not in the same bowl.

Hi Jan yorkshire is in england where its about 18 degrees C (quite warm this time of year) a champagne is what i think you call in america, a beige. he's not a true champagne though as he has a berkshire marking on his belly (a white patch) my girls are about 10/11 months old and my boy is about 6/7 months i think (cant remenber off the top of my head). i've posted another message with all my other animals on there.
I love gunea pigs too. and you can teach them to whistle, do you all know this? Or they will whistle on their own, if you are not taking care of them right and they want something. Like food or water. I taught mine to whistle, by making a whistling noise before giving him lettuce, then making him sit up for it. I should get another one. they just sit around and munch. when he died,(of old age), he died with his face in his food.(just like he lived)
they live about 5 years and are not as hard to take care of, and not so subjective to illness.
This morning I went in the room where Trixi's cage is to play with her,I saw that her "nest" fell. Her nest is like a little tube that she climbs up then it is like a semicircle 4 her to sleep in. Well she chewed through the wire holding it up and it fell. The wire was really thick,I bet it took her all night to chew through it. I felt really bad so I gave her a treat(I am really glad she did not choke again). When I came in the poor rattie was crouched in the far corner of her cage. Well that is my sad little rattie story!
California!!! I bet it is just beautiful. I am so glad you are well. I don't think the rats had a bad time at your house. I have had no trouble getting on here in the last few days. Michelle had a hampster who passed away. That is really sad. Are you going to CA for 4th of July celebrations? Trixi is sooooo much work sometimes. I have to get her out for like a half an hour a day. And it's work geting to to calm down. Then I get her out she gets sooo excited and FLIPS! Well I think I should get her out right now! Wish me luck!

Actually we are viiting his mom in the hospital. It just happens to be the 4th week-end. Got to go!.
I wish you could see the fires here tonight. The top of the mountains. it looks so cool,although it is tragic. Well , at least its way up there. but it did burn down a resort town up there, where everyone went to get away from the heat. Alot of times it rains in the mountains, but not down here. but not this month. Its been on fire for a month now.
Well, seeing everybody's gone, I hope you don't get too lonely on here. Rita and Michells ought to be out there somewhere. Talk to you when I get back.

I really didn't start drinking coffee untill I was 25. Now I only drink it in the mornings.
NO rain here yet, I'll let you know when it does, since it will probably take awhile. I actually saw the flames up there on the mountains. Can you imagine how big they must be?Of course it was dark outside. all day you see the smoke.
How are the baby hampsters doing? Are they alright?,since you were handling them?
In my opinion females are best in rats, since they don't mark territory. Anybody else have a male? Does he do this?
Yes, keep all rats away from pregnant females. the males will hurt the babies and the females get so aggresive, they will attack the other females and you might end up with a biting rat.

Did someone say something about Hampsters? I didn't even know anyone had these. and now she had babies?
From what I here, when a mother has hampsters, you cannot even touch the cage, much less the babies themselves. I'm surprized she didn't eat all of them.
Of course, this inforrmation came from a pet shop emplooyee and we all know how knowledgable they are. (not)
Well, I guess I'll go check up on what else I have to catch up on.

lol, i rescued 2 hampsters from a VERY bad environment
she had 9 babies
and the male was in with them in a tiny tiny cage
she was harrasing him (he had bite marks)and i found broken glass and screws adn bolts in theyr filthy cage
it was horrifying
anyways
i waited 10 days b4 touching the babies (talked to a friend of mine who is a breeder) mum didnt mind
i know if u touch them b4 this she will eat them
she ate 3 of them, i dont know why b4 the 10 days, one died as she wasnt takin care of it as i was posting about earlierthe rest are all well and kicking strong
shes weaning them ^_~
they are allll soooo cute!@ and adorable!
i have them all in nice clean cages and dad is seperate lol
