and help...

I have extracted something I posted further down... because I realised after doing it I ought to open the question up wider...

The background is I want to buy some of Rich's tapes...so....

"Now as I am in England and in order to save me a few dollars, I want to order the NTSC tapes as my video recorder says it will play them. Do you know if anyone has done this in the past or if it causes any problems??

I feel that I need to cover/supplement several areas in my training (please excuse the rambling but trying to be clear)

1. Dealing with the Stress of attack. Realistic scenario training and visualisation of scenarios seems to be the way to go. My objective is to remain calm (so far as possible) during a real confrontation and so I need to simulate that stress to desensitize, although accepting that gross motor skill movements will form the bulk of my offensive actions.

2. The Flinch. Accepting that I will flinch to some degree (is this reduced by training?) and learning to counter from there. Firstly therefore need to accurately discover what MY flinch is, whether this is a constant irrelevant of the type of attack?

3. Entries from the flinch (generally I work either triangular footwork to the sides or crashing straight through with cover). Following the entry the idea is to overwhelme, to be in his space and keep there until its over. Short movements with CWCT principles, nothing is "off limits" in terms of an attack provided it follows the five principles (non telegraphic etc...)and taking the weak points (Eyes, Throat etc).

If you can suggest appropriate tapes that will be helpful (if you could please bear in mind my bank manager is old and I would hate to be responsible for any sudden shocks...!!)and very much appreciated.

If there is any information on body mechanics a pointer to that would be apreciated too."

Sorry to repeat post and sorry to ramble, with any project I laways feel the first thing is to set out your goals, mine is survival. I have not included de-escalation or aviodance (or profiling).

These I feel from experience I already do ok (I can improve them but they are not my immediate priorities although this is not to minimise there importance).

Comments and suggestions please.

All the best.

Bear
