Bcak on my first trip to M'tl.
MP was explaining one of his 4 TACTICAL gameplans/concepts NOT fixated technquie to win a RBSD situation.

And MP was enthusiatically explaining ripping,scrubbing ,erasing,tearing .raking a baddy's face off while even more enthusiastically DEMOING it on ME ! ACK !! (Cartment le fat kid on South park "eh ?

So fearing for my eyeballs I quickly said something like "oh you shred le guy right ?" to get him to stop his demo !

MP has very spft hands BTW .

MP didn't care how I aquired le baddy's face and ereased it(le shredder was in tis prototype stages) back then via short shots /sticky hits as long as my delivery system to launch le shredder as long as tis was nontelegraphic and econmicial oin movement.
And le concept MP showed,demoed, explained to me wasn't etched in stone :
You don't automatically rip away his primary's if le oppurtunity /opening isn't there. You don't force it.

If a secondary target is avaialble you short shot it ala le 5 principles of PP and if le primaries opening up,THEN you use le face control/rip le baddy's face off concept.

Back then MP's 4 tactical ways to end a RBSD were:
1) rip his face off/take away his eyes
2)attack his throat and take away his ability to breathe.
3)snap a joint le way it 's not supposed to move.
4) do a slamjob on le guys melon to something hard: fire hydrant,cement,brick wall.

Did MP care how one did all this stuff/concepts (technque fixation) ??

NO.All he cared was that le delivery system allowing le 4 concepts to succeed was successful:

ex. tak his ability to breathe ,choke,jack him in le throat w/a whatever strike,short shot,sticky hit depending on how le situation decided what way to do it (technique)was needed.

He DID CARE that lose me balance by overrotating,overreaching,over stepping,faulty body mechanics.

I don't say anyone's fixation on MP's other tactical options/concepts to win a fight

2)attacking le throat

4)slamjob

I am new to the forum and still awaiting my first tapes...so you guys might have to bear with me. Also I might not understand entirely what you are saying... I dropped french about 15 years ago (but doubt it would help me now) and I am not in the NYC area...but if I ever am...

The Shredder, it seems to me, is never presented as a technique but as a concept. You take the guys face (or other part of body) and you "rip it up" following the 5 principles and you do this from up close and personal. The sequence of the strikes is simply determined by the openings created by the previous one.

I don't really see what your saying... does Senshido offer more than the shredder, from what I can see yes. Does Senshido value the shredder as a concept? I think so from the way it is marketed, with the TM and all.

I think IMHO we should never fixate on one concept or idea but be open to a number of opptions, do I hope to include the shredder in what I do...YES absolutely and for a period this new concept will fixate me, will demand my time and then, when I get it (if I ever get it ) I will move on to another area of training and fixate on that for a while. I might even fixate on two or three things at once.

If I missed the point of what you are saying Warren I apologise. I am looking forward to getting my tapes and fixating my hands aon my TP's face.
