Because we are not supposed to go beyond what is written (1 Cor. 4:6). So no more prophets after the Bible was finished. So we can know for example that the hijacker preacher in Mexico yesterday was a false prophet. No more prophecies from God.
And please don't twist my beliefs. I am not saying all religions are equal. Only Christianity is of God and beloved of God. All false gospels, like Islam, Church of Christ Scientist, Hinduism, Judaism, Samaritanism, Yezidism, Buddhism, Shinto, etc. are influenced by the devil, and hated by God. Likewise atheism, including its Communist varieties, and noncommunist. The poor people believing in such gospels need the true gospel. And the true gospel is preached by the church, with both independent Christians, and good denominations like RCC, INC, Lutherans, Baptists, Trinitarian Pentecostals, Oneness Pentecostals, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Living Church of God, the Mormons, the Christadelphians etc.
But there are churches that don't preach the gospel and instead preach false gospels, we need to beware of them. Examples are Church of Christ Scientist, Shakers (thankfully Shakers are almost extinct), International Ministry Growing in Grace, the Kimbanguist church, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, the Nestorian church and other false churches. Also some denominations tolerate false gospel preachers, like preachers who don't believe that Jesus was resurrected, or preachers who don't believe that the book of Revelation is all inspired and inerrant. Both beliefs are necessary for salvation, therefore are part of the gospel, and these partly liberal denominations should expel such people and be faithful to the Bible. |
