his church to end within the life of Peter. Therefore when Peter dies, the church dies too.
This is wrong Tomas. Jesus created the office of Rock with the keys to the kingdom of heaven, much like the U.S. Constitution created the office of the president. The office of Rock has authority to run the new institution created by Jesus.
In Jesus' own words "Thou are rock and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." I give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven."
Therefore the office of rock (the Petrine office) has authority to change church laws. The church does not change divine laws.
You defy Jesus when you reject the Petrine office Jesus created himself.
Jesus is the Invisible Head of the church. Jesus appointed a visible head of the church with the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
The current visible head of the church is Pope Benedict XVI.
