Jesus did not say, "with washed hands" either.

Response to No, I am going by all that is written there.

It is wrong to isolate the verses without looking at the context. The disciples were not criticized for eating non-kosher food. They were criticized for eating with unwashed hands. So they continued eating only kosher food.

INCQUISITOR:

What you are saying is NOT found in the words of Jesus written in Mt. 15:11 and Mark 7:15. What Jesus clearly says in these scriptures does not have anything to do with eating with unwashed hands. Jesus says that ANYTHING that ENTERS a person's mouth for WHATEVER reason, does NOT defile that person before the eyes of God. The words of Jesus are TRUE regardless of context.

Tomas:

Jesus did not say 'for whatever reason'. Sinful eating does not defile us, but it is still a sin, and we pay a price for whatever sin we commit.

INCQUISITOR:

You say, "Sinful eating does not defile us, but it is still a sin,..." Tomas, what you say dos not make sense. It only proves that you DON'T know what Jesus meant by "DEFILE." The dictionary defines "defile" as "to make unclean or impure." Only SIN can make a person "unclean or impure" before the eyes of God.

Hence, Jesus is saying that "there is NOTHING that ENTERS a man from outside which can DEFILE (make a man UNCLEAN or IMPURE); but the things which come out of him, those are the things that DEFILE (make unclean or impure) a man" (Mark 7:15).

In other words, eating ANYTHING is NOT sin because FOOD (whether kosher or non-kosher, offered to idols or blood as non-Jews normally ate during Jesus' time) is USUALLY something that ENTERS a man from OUTSIDE.

Jesus explained his reason for saying that "there is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him." Jesus said to his disciples, " Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that WHATEVER enters a man from outside CANNOT defile (make unclean or impure) him, because it DOES NOT ENTER HIS HEART but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods" (Mark 7:18-19).

Tomas, why is this so hard for you to digest?
