To have eternal life, and to prove even more that he is the Christ. And to show

that we too will be resurrected.

The Bible says he was sacrificed once. So he will not die again. So that implies

April 30 2017, 1:54 AM

he was resurrected to eternal life, to die no more. Also the Bible says that when the disciples saw him resurrected, they believed. So his resurrection was the final proof he is indeed the Christ. Before that time the disciples were anguished that he died, they abandoned him, they were confused, they did not know for sure he would be resurrected, they wondered if he could really be the Christ if he died. But when they saw him alive again, they believed and rejoiced.
Also the Bible says that without his resurrection, their faith would be futile, they would have no hope of eternal life. So for one thing, we have to believe in his resurrection, for another thing, his resurrection is the proof we too will be resurrected. After all, when we die, we are totally dead, we know nothing. So to be alive again, we have to be resurrected, see 1 Cor. 15:12-23, without resurrection there is no eternal life.

So, you are really saying Jesus has no power to resurrect himself?

He had the power, acting with the Father.

Jesus said in John 8:28 "Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of a human, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things".
So Jesus said he does nothing by himself.

So Jesus have power but cannot do anything by himself.

Do you not know of anything that Jesus did by himself?

That's right, Jesus has the power only to do what the Father guides him to do.

May 28 2017, 1:29 AM

Jesus said so himself, that of himself he can do nothing. He was not lying when he said that. So even when he said that, he was saying what the Father told him to say. And the Bible says God cannot lie. So Jesus cannot lie either.

That's right. Jesus have the power. Period.

May 28 2017, 5:29 AM

He has the power to resurrect himself. That's the point.

John 10:17-18
17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

And the Bible do not lie.

Yes, he received this command from his Father, as he said. So without that he

would not have had the power. But the Father gave him that power.

What do you say that Christ resurrected?

May 28 2017, 5:41 AM

More than anything else:

Because Christ has power to resurrect himself.

Because it was not possible that Christ should be held by death.

The Father had to give him that power.

June 10 2017, 9:57 PM

More than anything else:

Because Christ has power to resurrect himself.

Because it was not possible that Christ should be held by death.

Tomas:

As Jesus said, the Father gave him that command. So the Father made it possible, that Jesus had the power to resurrect himself. Otherwise Christ would not have had the power to resurrect himself. But he had the power, acting together with the Father.
