Maybe this has been addressed already--probably has--but something's been bothering me about Tom. I read Legacy, and it was awesome, but then I remembered reading an issue of Emerald Knights when young Hal was accidentally sucked into the present. Remember when he went to Ferris? Tom was there, and he wasn't some raging alcoholic. He wasn't a disgruntled bar-rat, he was the project manager! He was wearing a tie!!!

So what gives? If this has already been discussed, please link me. If I just missed an issue or something, let me know so I can pull my foot out of my mouth. :-D

possibile explanation...

You're right, of course. On the other hand, Tom has always been prone to mood swings...(The whole Millenium/New Gods storyline comes to mind) Maybe like a lot of alcoholics, he has a daytime job and then goes out on binges at night. It's his personal life that's goin' down to the tubes...I don't know just a thought...

The only thing about that..

The only thing about that is that in Legacy, Tom was working as a auto mechanic (from which he got fired). He went from project manager at Ferris to auto mechanic? Tom even visited Carol in Legacy, and there was no mention of his time as project manager (at least, not to my recollection). You'd think with the things the way they were in Tom's life at that point, Carol would have said something. Maybe not. Methinks it's a goof on DC's part. How else do you explain Tom going from "Hal! You're back and you're Green Lantern again! Joy!" to crying "Murderer!" at the top of his lungs?
