Ok with that business behind us, what do you guys think of the current issue? It had all the elements that made me like GL in the first place. Let's encourage Ron Marz to pursue this aspect of the Green Lantern, and if we can't have Hal back as GL, then atleast get the Corps back where they belong!

Getting there

I totally agree. I think Ron Marz is on to something here. It's about time the whole GL corps issue got revisited. I think this is Ron's way of developing Kyle (who I still don't like..but am trying) into a more take charge leadership type hero.

This is the direction IT needs!

If this direction ISN'T taken, the book will forever be a dud in my book along with Kyle and Ron Marz. If he DOES go this direction, I'll be a little more recieving and finally like the book, it won't be Hal's book, but it will be a little easier to swallow now... write Marz if you liked this...

See my link section for his addy...

Yes, for those who want to see my letter and response again, here it is:
First my letter...
Dear Mr Marz,
Let me start out by saying I am NOT a fan of Kyle nor the current series. With that said, I want to tell you how much I enjoyed GL #121! I realize it is some kind of dream or mindgame, but why not make this a permanent change? This would be an excellent new direction for the book, and may even please some of the old time GL readers who miss the Corps (myself included) It is very evident that Kyle NEEDS a Corps to be in, to help set him apart and show he is the best of the bunch. Please try to set this change in motion and explain the dream as a flash forward into the near future and allow this type of setting to exist. Thanks for listening. Also, is there anyway, we can get a new cooler uniform for Kyle in 2000? He needs a new one bad, and he is an artist....

Now his response...

Just a quick note, as it's 11:30 on a Friday night and I'm still at the CrossGen Comics offices and wanting to get home.

I'm sorry you're not a fan of what we done in GL, but to each his own, certainly. I do appreciate you dropping me a line. Heading toward a re-creation of the GL Corps is a logical direction for the book, one I've been toying with for a while now. I felt it was important to stay away from that concept for quite a long time, because we needed to establish Kyle as an individual. Though the job is by no means done, I do think he's a strong enough character now so that expanding the scope of the book is appropriate. I think that by the time the current storyline is over you'll see that some of its purpose was to lay groundwork. Beyond that, I don't really want to give away anything more.

I'm not sure if you're a reader of the book on any regular basis, but I hope at least some of what we do piques your interest.

Thanks for writing.

Best,

Ron

I kinda like Kyle too when he's not done so lame..

I like him better when he's taking charge and showing off his Green Lantern power such as holding that super nova in DC 1M. You'd think after the death of Alex, saving the future, having a couple of near death experiences, he'd grow up just a bit, but I guess they want to keep him looking amateurish. Does that really attract the current GL readers? I guess so. I'm tired of him doing the Earth thing. If he's gonna have personal problems, I say do it in space where a GL should be. At least there's bound to be some cosmic happenings out there. On Earth, Kyle just becomes like any other person bound with personal problems..totally forgettable and avoidable. In space, his GL heritage shines alot brighter. Not to say he didn't have his moments on Earth, but geez, after it's all over, he's back to his ridiculously soap operatic life.

Agreement

I agree with Slayer, I like Kyle better when he's more assertive and in charge. I think he has some growing up to do though, and we'll eventually get there.

Green

December 14 1999, 11:54 AM

Well slap my ass and call me green,we all agree on something. Now I know the world is coming to an end. it really is nice to see GL in space and with the corps. DC might disagree with me but I think they could sell two titles a month. The corps led by Kyle would appeal to all the new followers, while us older guys could get back a little of the past. The current series could continue as is,after all Kyle is the GL of earth and should some time here.

Like Slayer, I to could do without the soap opera antics. I would also like to see more team-ups with other heros. A few conflicts wouldn't hurt either (see past Nightwing comments)....oops, sorry, forgot those were deleted by a higher power. Well enough of my ramblings for one day. Talk to you guys later.

As a great frog once said " It's not easy being Green"
