Just got the DC Direct Hal. It looks pretty good, but they changed the head from the prototype. It has an elongated head, kinda like the Joker's. I think it takes away from an otherwise great looking figure.

Well, it topples the Super Powers Hal, but...

February 9 2000, 10:59 PM

I'm disappointed they didn't sculpt the ring image on the finger. If Hasbro could sculpt Kyle's ring on the smaller JLA fig why couldn't DC Direct do the same on the bigger Hal fig? Still, a nice fig. Good sculpt. Articulation is okay and in appropriate places but would have preferred more. My vote as the best GL fig still goes to the DC 9" Hal Jordan though.

Best Hal

I agree. The 9 inch Hal is great (well, at least according to Carol...LOL). I wish it had been more of a modern costume, but it was a Silver Age figure after all. The Parallax figure from Total Justice can't be overlooked either. I love that figure.

Oh yeah..

Parallax was a great fig. It's just not up there for me cause I'm an articulation fan so the 9" rules for me. Most green lantern figs are pretty good even down to Kyle's fig from Jack in the box to his newer fig from the two pack with Dr. Polaris. I think the fig that hits rock bottom though is that ugly one from Toybiz a few years back after the Super Powers one. Talk about yuck.

Hard travelling action figures

Hal is quite well sculpted, and the articulation is good enough, but it's sort of hard to pose him charging his ring with the power battery. But he looks really cool on any shelf. While the Super Powers one is good, this is a very good current version.

Parallax is sculpted really well; however, it looks more like a statuette than an action figure. Beats the Kyle one anyday, though!

However, the Green Arrow one was surprisingly good. Spot-on Neal Adams version, even if the pose is somewhat clumsy looking.

Silver age Hal

Yup, the best one still has got to be the 9 inch Hal. Too bad they didn't make a current version with the points around the shoulder!

The best thing about buying these figures is that if you get one thats dis-colored or broke you can always sell it to Tomkat as a Colloctors item.

or...

Or you could put it in a dress and Conner could add it to his Barbie collection.

Yeah, but what sucks is.....

February 10 2000, 4:19 PM

starting May there's gonna be a whole slew of DC Direct figs to buy. There
s the Preacher set(I'm skipping that), Hawkman/Hawkwoman, Spectre/Fate/Zatanna/Constantine, Kid Flash/Tom Strong/Starfire, Capt Marvel/Bill Batson, Tomorrow Woman/Amazo/Hourman. Whew...need more money.

Simple solution

February 10 2000, 4:43 PM

Don't buy them all! Heh, I know these are all good figs, but honestly, only a few of the figs being made interest me (like the GL/GA/BC ones and the upcoming Hawks) There are way to many figs coming out to get them all! Are you guys doing the Alladvange thing I told you guys about? It DOES make you extra money. If you doubt me, I will send anyone wondering a scan of my latest check I got!

Just barely got him....

February 10 2000, 3:28 PM

I went to my local shop today and found they had 3 Hal's left. I bought two....one to open and one to keep. I agree that his head looks kinda gooby, but he's still a very cool figure.

Also found the long-sleeve version of the Hal symbol shirt.

Needless to say, today was a very good day!

Trick for the long sleeve shirt....

February 10 2000, 4:48 PM

I got the long sleeve GL symbol shirt as well, however, being the costumizer I am, I decided to order from the Haynes site a like BLACK long sleeve shirt. (Do you se where I'm going with this?) Anyhow, I took both shirts to a seemstress, to have the sleeves swapped on each. That way, the GL shirt wil resembles Hal's Silver Age shirt more and the other one is just a Black shirt with green sleevs (which is optional, I just just didn't want to through away a perfectly good shirt) I'll post a pic of it once it is finished!

Sounds cool, but....

February 11 2000, 10:56 AM

....the shirt didn't come cheap and I would be too scared it would get ruined, then I would have nothing to wear. If I had the money, I would buy the GL duty uniform, but I'm not sure that I would look too good in spandex.

As far as a ring, the ring that came with the Hal figure is pretty cool. Too bad it gets lose after you wear it a bit.
