Man, another GL item to buy...$39.95 for the set. Pretty steep for some plastic figures that don't move. But oh well, GL items don't come along everyday like Batman and Superman stuff. Must be mine. Hey, Lord Mal, I noticed one missing item from your GL stuff. There was a silver GL coin made by AMC, I think, that was on sale on Ebay. I looked really nice thought I lost the bid at $35. I think it went up to $45...Ah well.
It is very strange how recently they have let loose (and are continuing) to release tons of GL related items. Harbinger of things to come? Or are they finally catering to all the GL (mostly Hal) fans. I look at it as good fortune and "about time", but don't go crazy DC. Even I have limited moneies and will have to stop soon! (Not that I want to) but there are other things I need too! Luckily, I have been playing EverQuest, so no other computer game even remotley interests me, thus saving me $$$ there.
I know my wife is gonna kill me when she sees that Visa bill for the Power Battery....
Picked up the set yesterday and I was immediately impressed with the packaging. Not the presentation I expected. As far as the figures, they all look pretty good with a few exceptions. Ganthet doesn't look right at all....I'm not sure what his problem is, he just doesn't look right. The way Sinestro was strapped in, he has an annoying backwards lean when I stand him up now. Only other problem is the choice of Guy Gardner looks. He appears to be based on the Joe Staton version, which I always thought looked goofy. That face and hair....yeeecchh.
The GL PVC set has a few imperfections but it's really not too bad when you compare them with PVCs from the early 1990s. However, still quite expensive, relatively speaking. But cool.
Sinestro can be straightened if you prop him up against something like the side of your CPU or printer and left him for a day or so.
Guy looks like Guy--he's never really been a real hero's hero so there you go.
I liked the Hal (the actual pose looks better than what was advertised in the posters, though still somewhat odd), Kyle and John Stewart figures. Alan Scott's alright, too.
One solution with Ganthet--he's more or less in scale with the DC Direct Hal so if you display them together, the schnoz isn't as obvious since he's smaller size.
