| Hi, I'm hoping to go into nursing as my career in the future, but I have cerebral palsy which affects my right side - The main problem is that I don't have much function in my right hand. I've been told by countless career advisors that it's not possible for me to go into nursing....I KNOW it is possible, and I'm detirminded to do it, but I'm posting here to ask, if anyone else has a similar disability, and if you do, how do you deal with it in your job, and how did you get over any discrimination people had when you were first going into nursing? |

Hi,
Please don't give up! A career in nursing is possible for you. Contact some of the mentors on the mentor page of the web site. There are nurses and students listed who have various disabilities (hand missing, arm missing, stroke, CP).
Read all you can about what you are entitled to under ADA and 504. Get involved with others. Become your own best advocate. Work hard...
